If you want to switch between two pump gas tunes (say, a 93 performance and an 87 tow/eco) do you have to do this reload process with the MyCal every time to switch back and forth? Or is there also some secret handshake of button-presses in the truck itself that can flip between tunes?
Two options,
I have multi octane tunes. So one tow tune that does 87-93 octane without reflashing,
They do offer a on the fly adjustment using cruise control buttons for an added cost. Also enables launch control.
But for me it was better to do the multi octane tune. That way it doesn’t matter what’s in my tank. I just need to flash from tow tune to performance tune.
E30 is just for fun.

BTW I’ve have always got the best mpg with my highest performance tune.
Never sure why anyone offered eco tunes in the past. Everyone who has tried one that I trust says the performance tune is always best as what I’ve found. Only problem is keeping out of the throttle. But with the maverick it’s Awsome. Just use eco mod in the dash and it helps keeps easy acceleration

That's cool. I typically run 93 day to day, but I do make long trips (especially to higher altitudes) where I don't need to burn through 2-3 tanks of premium gas on a highway each direction. If there is a single tune that gets me both decent scoot on 93 and good mileage on 87 I can stick to that, or just play with the Livernois options.

FYI no eco mode on my FX4, but I will probably add modes via Forscan eventually...

I’ve been very happy with my flex tune doing exactly what you describe. I travel for work. Long trips are t gets 87. Then when I’m back I just pump full of 93 and the tune adjusts.

are you monitoring KOM? I can't imagine how it could do this other than knock sensor pulling timing. that's how the stock map works with 87, it's really optimized for high-quality 91 and if you give it junk 91 or 87, your KOM will fall below 1.000 and it will pull timing advance.

It is the same logic that ford use you are correct. Ecoboost should run 91 plus but it if fine with 87 because of that. Now they did give me and tell me that that window is only so big so my 93 only tune obviously has more to it. So they leave some on the table using the flex octane but it is super nice being able to have that and not need to run the tank low or reflash. I’m not racing just like the extra power.

That way of tuning was getting pretty popular in the 150 scene. My only problem was knowing that you couldn’t get as much out of the flex Octane tune as a true 93. But apparently enough people seemed ok with that for the convenience.

I'm running an E30 93 octane tune and I've been reflashing to a 91 map when E30 isn't available. It's a little tedious, and I've been tempted to leave the map and see if the KOM drops, and how much. Maybe record-high summer heat isn't the time to experiment like that, though.

That would be nice to pay the extra for the on the fly. You can adjust e content with the cruise buttons.

I'd be curious to see how much it drops as well. Your E30 fuel is behaving better than "93" octane.
