My tuner is arriving today. I'm looking forward to the experience, but want to mount the new CV intercooler before setting up the tuner.
I’m still debating intercooler or meth injection. Clean valves, 120 Oct, and low iat’s.

I'm wondering if turbo lag will increase significantly. I asked that question in another thread and it remains unanswered.

With my experience no. Mainly because our turbos are so tiny they are able to spin up so fast. I’m willing to bet it’s not even noticeable.

I came to the same conclusion and decided to purchase the larger intercooler. Since my experience with turbos is limited to one Porsche I wanted to hear from people who had made the upgrade.

Why not both? They do much the same thing in totally different but complimentary ways.

I used a huge intercooler (Mishimoto J-line) on my Fiesta ST which has a 1.6 liter and an even smaller turbo and lag was imperceptible.
These small ecoboosts spin up so fast that lag isn't much of a concern IMHO, heck the Fiesta used to be making 12-15 pounds of boost backing out of the garage. In my experience with Escapes and Focus STs, the 2.0 behaves much the same, almost instant boost all the time.

Both would be a complete waste. Meth does everything better. You will never come close to the low ait’s of meth with any intercooler. So it would be a complete waste. I’ve tracked both in my focus rs and intercoolers can never get below ambient even if 100 percent efficiency. Meth can plus you get to actually add power with more octane.
I’ve always went meth for that reason plus clean valves. Except with my 23 3.5 f-150 I did an intercooler cause it has port injection also and I run e85. So the intercooler added some benefit. Mainly if I used my 93 octane tow tune to power iat

Does anyone know what our top speed should be on this? Probably the first one I haven’t found out first hand in a while. If it’s under 130 than yes lms has raised it.
Made a quick trip to Mexico to find out. Was not able to reach top speed but it was able to get to 130.

Did you ever get a chance to see what your top end is? Hopefully I'll be getting mine in a few months and once it's here, I live in Stuttgart, Germany, I'll tune it and send it down the Autobahn to see what she can do. I was planning on taking it to the Nordschliefe but they no longer allow pick-ups so I'll just have to have it photoshopped on there :)

the tunes I've seen raise it to 130, but it is probably configurable if you have a real need for a little more. you could do math on the rpm at 60 or 70 and figure out what's a practical limit, but even if it had the horsepower to get there I am not sure I'd sign up to be in a Maverick doing 140+. :ROFLMAO:

Well, my VK56 swapped frontier is pretty smooth at 120ish and it's a brick so I figure the smaller and smoother Maverick will be as good or better. And once I get the Fast Maverick brakes installed, I'll be more comfy doing those speeds as well.

yes, lowered truck with summer or UHP all-season tires is very different than full stock suspension and 112-mph rated tires.

oh. to be clear, the speed limiter is set by the tuner. I have not seen that end-users can do it, with any tuning device, but I could be wrong.

I have not had mine over 136 yet.

Just busies at work. It cruises real nice around 120-125mph but get a bit of a shake after 130. But that’s the 265 off road tires I have on it. I will one day this fall toss my stock wheels and tires and run it up. My wife’s edge has a 2.0 and is tuned I was able to hit 142 in that. So I bet the maverick will be slightly faster

So I've heard rumblings of a Maverick that did 150mph on the dot in a one mile race. My assumption is with some decent power upgrades, that wouldn't be too far of a stretch... I wish we had long runways around here that would allow such shenanigans! Lol

What are you planning to do for E85? I've been trying to talk to a couple places about upgrades in the fueling department, but options are pretty limited.

So originally I was planing on doing hpfp and or injectors. But I’ve decided this is a truck to save me money so I’m more than likely sticking to e30 for now.
Obviously I may change my mind and do a Corsair turbo and full e85. But as of now happy with my e30 tune.

I've gotten it to 140, 5 star tuned. The truck REALLY doesn't like it at that speed, cornering at 120+ with stock height shocks is also a terrifying experience. Not to mention that most tires (including the stock contis) are H rated and technically cap out at 130...

Cruises like a charm up to 125 though. I'm sure you could eke out a few more miles with the correct tires, there's plenty of gear left at 140.

No meth would and does not increase turbo lag at all. In fact it can reduce it if sprayed early and timing is adjusted. Think more anti lag.
