I asked 3 questions. 1. Which color would best match atlas blue. 2. Do they print in asa or petg I'm in Florida so if this was PLA it would be useless to me. 3. If they do not print in petg or Asa would they be willing to sell a non commercial use stl file so I can print it in asa. I wasn't asking for a free design. I was trying to verify it would work for my use case before purchasing and if not offer an alternative where I'd still purchase from them. A simple hey dark blue and we print in asa or petg and do not sell any files. And I'd have bought the part.
He or she is protecting what they designed. You did ask for " If they do not print in petg or Asa would they be willing to sell a non commercial use stl file so I can print it in asa." I WOULD HAVE BLOCKED YOU TOO! All that needs to be said. Go out to your truck and do measurements and make your own. Could have paid for the part and "Copied it". Again, They prolly didn't "PATENT it" But it is what they made. Sorry to poo on you; but again; If you have a printer. Do your own work! I totally get why they just blocked you.

As an Etsy seller of 3D printed goods that I design, I can give you some insight as to why you got blocked. I am regularly receiving questions about my equipment, suppliers, for free copies of my designs. I have even had someone commission a design from me, and after putting in a lot of work, they refused to buy the product and asked me to just give them the design files for free so they can have it printed for cheaper. It isn’t the printing that costs the money, it is the hours of design time. Just ask @P99Guy about how long it took us to design our tailgate hole cover. (I learned my lesson from that and no longer do design work, except working with David)
long story short, when you get people asking for certain specs, most of the time it is going to end up being someone wanting something for free and they are just going to waste my time and not lead to a sale. Sometimes it is just easiest to mark the message as spam.
And yes, that may be where I got my user name, and, No, I won’t tell you my Etsy shop.
Totally agree!!!!! Design yur own $H!T. Don't go asking for the files. They did the work and they deserve the payment. If you want to make them; do the R&D. I woulda blocked them as well!

You sound like you’re going to be an awesome supplier.
Thanks! Right now @P99Guy does the printing and selling of my Maverick designs. He has the quality printers that can print good enough to carry our names. If he will ever retire, we will start working on more designs, other than our tailgate hole cover.

The p1s and a-1 are also really strong options for much cheaper. Think of the Carbon as the Lariat, a-1 is the xl and the p1s is the xlt. Course for details its hard to beat one of the Mars 3d printers. I may have a hobby of collecting hobbies.. And for a bit 3d printers were the one.
I love it 🙂 good collection to have.

Sorry, I thought you said you were asking for specs and measurements as if you wanted to design your own. I get that a lot.
now, there is another type of Etsy seller, and those are the ones that steal designs off thingiverse and know nothing about the file/ application, so they block anyone asking questions. You may have met one of those sellers.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head, there's far too much malarkey in 3d printing between shady sellers shifting shoddy samples to over-reacting spazzes who block people for asking a simple question.
It's really a rare pleasure to find a seller who is willing to answer a question or two and takes pride in their quality of work.

My wife and I take great pride in our shops, she has 5 stars and I have 4.9. We are both star sellers because we regularly answer questions and offer the best customer service we can, along with products that we would be happy to receive. I have 4.9 stars because for some reason I get a lot of reviews that say, “best product ever, definitely should buy,” 4 stars. I don’t understand that, but it is their decision to leave 4 stars.

Wow waiting for someone to retire might not work out. My brother took a job when he got out of navy 57 years ago. Still working same job with promotions drawing salary, plus legacy retirement (age plus years worked equals 80), still paying into retirement pool so every six months his monthly retirement check is increased due to additional payments plus annual COLA adjustment. He just laughs when asked when he is going to retire. I think he said his estate gets an insurance payment if he drops dead on the 4 day a week job with three weeks vacation a year. He still lives in the house he bought from mother dear for $10k in 1972.

I have a lot of other projects I procrastinating on, so if @P99Guy takes his time retiring, I am fine with that. Maybe one day I may actually buy a nice printer and cut David out of the equation. He has been trying to get me to take over the tailgate hole covers shortly after he started offering them to members. I graciously declined 🙂

I only asked for a non commercial license in the event they couldn't or wouldn't print it in petg or Asa. If I bought it and it showed up in PLA I would've been fucking pissed. I can print pla... I'm printing something in PLA-Cf right now. I'm well aware I could design it my self but I wad looking to have it printed so I can just drop it in my car. All they had to say was, yes we can print in petg or Asa. These colors are what we recommend. I completely get not wanting to sell a NON COMMERCIAL (IE I can't profit off of it file) I was just trying to make sure I get what I want in the material and quality I need.

I get what you are saying about wanting a non commercial license, but there are a lot of people out there (not saying you) that will ignore licensing and sell the products anyways. It is very difficult to prove that someone is using your designs without permission. It happens regularly when people post designs online, someone inevitably will take the design and use it to make a profit, even though it is against the licensing. This is the reason that I will only sell my designs with full rights and they are very expensive. You want the product? $20. You want the design? $500+. This is also the reason that I do not post my designs online and I am unwilling to share my designs with others. I put a lot of time In my designs and for someone to spend 30 seconds stealing it from me, doesn’t work for me. Unfortunately, the few ruin it for the many.
I am not saying what you did was wrong, or what the seller did was right, I was just trying to provide insight as to why it may have happened. As soon as I hear someone telling me they want my design, the red flags go up.

You need to take a deposit before you do any work.

Hi All, I'm a new Maverick owner and looking to get into accessories/mods--as I'm a big 3d printing nerd, too.

Wanted to let y'all know I appreciated reading through your thoughts in this thread about printed parts, thingiverse/file sharing, and designer/etsy/selling perspectives. Definitely informs the ways I've been pondering about sharing (selling?!) my designs and prints if I make anything worth offering to the community.
