Hey all, I'm trying to think of possible ideas for adding more light to the front of this thing. The headlights really don't cut it on these Pennsylvania back roads.

Some ideas I have are; Adding light pods to the lower bumper where the tow hooks are on the FX4 model (although I have an XLT). Getting a roof rack basket and putting light pods on that. A windshield mounted light bar (but that requires drilling and I'm not sure if I want to do that yet). Or lastly I found clamps on Amazon which allow you to clip light pods to the rear corners of the hood (ditch lights?) But idk how sturdy that would be or if you could even open the hood with them on.

I do wish someone would make a roll bar / sport bar for the bed. I love the old school KC lights look.

I know the aftermarket will catch up but I don't want to wait a year for that!

How about a Diode Dynamics 12” light bar mounted to a license plate bracket. They are available in white or yellow

Nice idea, as long as it doesn't shake too much in that spot. I don't have a front license plate but maybe there's still mounting holes for it 🤔

Those brackets are held on with a couple of push pins. I just went out to mine and saw that it's pretty flimsily mounted. I'd consider upgrading the hardware if going this route.
Absolutely. Stainless nuts and bolts.

I purchased from Amazon a pair of motorcycle LED fog/driving and mounted them on my Ford E450 motorhome. Did a great job of lighting up the road. At 3" I'm thinking something like that would be small enough to cut out the tow hook covers and mounting the lights flush. If you're careful, it would look factory. Just use motorcycle LED driving lights as your search in Amazon. Still waiting for my Maverick to be delivered, so I have yet to explore this more thoroughly.

I finally found a site selling ditch lights and light bars for the maverick. I picked up the pods and really dig them. I'll probably be grabbing the bar soon too.

My only complaint is that while they have a huge amount of spill and light up everything close they don't really have much throw. They don't illuminate anything further away than the headlights can. I'd say the light bar being set in the grill may solve that problem and then I can use the pods more for the side of the road (ditch) which is more what they are designed for.

Anyway I liked them enough to make a review video. Sorry for the portrait mode 🙃

if you're interested in buying them they're Here

Also I have a coupon code I can email someone and we can both get 15% off an order. First person to DM me will get that!

Thank you for the time and effort you put into making a video. It's not as easy to do as some would think, so thanks.

This looks very interesting. I also feel the factory LED headlamps do an excellent job of lighting, but I live in suburbia, so not sure I need the "ditch" lighting. I would be interested in the lower light bar setup to help see closer to my vehicle, especially in inclement weather. The deal clincher for me is the remote setup that does away with drilling through the firewall, finding a place on the dash for a switch and drilling more holes. Brilliant!

Can you post a link to the company? I know you mentioned their name and showed the packaging, but perhaps you didn't realize in that setting the phone cam had everything mirrored backwards.

As per their description on the site the light bar seems to already come with the wireless remote (despite them still listing it as an optional add on)

The pods DID NOT come with it and I had to add it separately

I visited the site and they have a lot of very cool lighting effects for the Maverick! Liked the HUD (although doesn't work as well with the hybrid), the LED coasters for the drink holders, and the light bar looks like an easy install and would definitely light up the immediate front of the truck. One caution on the install is they used an FX-4 with tow hooks as an install example. My hybrid does not have tow hooks so I'll need to take a better look at how to route the wiring.

I don't have the tow hooks on mine either. That's a good observation however they don't indicate it being FX4 specific. I didn't watch the install video though, did it look like it utilizes that portion?

I saw a photo of some lights integrated into the grill bar.
Looked really good.
