I read somewhere there is a surplus of hides. Maybe due to our love of beef and use of synthetic leather elsewhere. It would be the problem of finding people that can work with leather that would restrict it. IMHO

I believe you should be price protected as long as you are covp with your dealer. I think the price increase is to inflate their way slowly to the new 2024 prices.

They did for 22 but when 23 order guides came out it was replaced with premium wrapped steering wheel as description. I was a little annoyed when it showed that so super excited it's back. Sounds like a little thing but hands are always touching the steering wheel.

I just checked my window sticker from my 23 built in the beginning of January. It also says leather wrapped steering wheel. I picked it up a couple of weeks ago. Pretty sure it is just the ActiveX still as it doesn't feel like leather.

It would be nice to see if anyone ever actually had a window sticker that said something else.

I am skeptical. You might want to verify when the truck arrives that it's actually leather. Ford has a bad habit of forgetting to update details in their specs and features listings. Even on the website currently there are many discrepancies and errors in these data.

The way to tell on these is that the vynil has a coarse grain and feels soft and slightly padded. The leather is smoother and is super tightly wrapped - less padded. IMO the vinyl is actually slightly nicer and will probably stay that way longer.

My '23 XLT Lux package fx4 came with leatherette vinyl steering wheel. I do NOT like it. Feels very cheap and doubt it will last. I'll probably be getting an aftermarket leather stich on cover to protect it.

I just picked mine up on 3/28/23, Lariat Lux Package. It has synthetic steering wheel cover. But my window sticker says leather steering wheel cover. But like others have said. It's the fake leather like Active X. I actually like it, it's very smooth feeling. Slides in your hand nicely when making turns.

I was more disappointed by the fact that they removed the ambient light in the center stack that lights up the charging tray etc. That was a cheesy move to save a couple of cents on a damn light bulb.

Because it's in the XLT Luxury Package, my window sticker doesn't specifically break out the steering wheel, and there is no mention of it (it just says "Luxury Package").

The order guide in effect at the time of build says...

Soft Vinyl Wrapped Heated Steering Wheel

...and that's exactly what I seem to have in mine. It's soft. It's vinyl wrapped. And it's heated. But coming from multiple Volvos and BMWs, I'm pretty darn sure it is not leather.

I have purchased two wheels, one for my XL and one for the father's XL. The one on mine is the Active X and my father's is real leather and I think the Active X feels 1,000 times better than the real leather.

Does your ActiveX wheel look like the one in my Tremor? Just curious if that's what they mean for the soft vinyl.

They could not call it leather if it was not. They would have to call it synthetic leather or ActiveX or something else.

So is there recourse if it isn't?

My '23 Lariat delivered 3-14 says Leather... It's not.
