Does lane centering only occur after the lane departure vibrations or does it keep the truck centered prior to the truck departing the lane? And If so does lane centering then correct the drift ?

Lane centering is NOT dependent on Lane Keeping.
Yes it will adjust to maintain what it sees as the center of the lane. You must keep a small amount of resistance on the wheel and you will feel it adjusting it’s driving line.
I don’t know about that. I do not use lane keeping. I really like the Lane Center and have never liked the lane keeping on my wife’s Nissan SUV. To me it’s just iterating. But, to each his own.I read that lane keeping allows you to drift further out of the lane before vibrating if you have both engaged.
I fully agree with not hands free statements. They don't work at the same time. They both can be turned on at rhsame time, but while Lane Centering is active, Lane Keeping is inactive. With Lane Centering active and the steering wheel icon is green, the vehicle tries to maintain the center of the lane. Lane Keeping is inactive during this time.
If for some reason the system disengages Lane Centering, the icon will turn grayed out and Cancelled will appear in the center screen. After a momentary delay the Lane Keeping Aid will re-engageand start doing its job, if it was on before Lane Centering was activated.
So I have noticed if Lane Centering deactivates and you start to drift to the line it may take a moment for Lane Keeping Aid to become active to correct and you may be crossing or across the line by that time. The system is designed that you take over after Lane Centering deactivates, not the system.
These are steering Assist systems, not hands-free systems. I have never had any issues with them because my hands are on the wheel and I am paying attention.
The systems work very well. I love them. Once you build muscle memory and intuituveness to them, they are wonderful tools. But they are not autonomous driving.
so if lane centering loses track of the lanes and therefore lane assist kicks in why does lane assist see the lanes snd not lane centering? They don't work at the same time. The Lane Centering will reactivate all on its own when it can detect the Lane markers again, so long as it's not turned off by the driver. The steering wheel and Lane markers will turn green again and Lane Keeping Aid will disengage. Sometimes in just a few seconds of cancelation.

A few reasons:so if lane centering loses track of the lanes and therefore lane assist kicks in why does lane assist see the lanes snd not lane centering?
I don't like my wife's Acura's lane centering but I like to remain in control and when the lane centering turns the steering wheel out from under my hands I tend to fight it.They don't work at the same time.
