How can you call them scumbags when people are willing to pay? It is what it is, the dealers near me have no new cars on their lot, I really don't blame them for marking up what they do have.
Not the consumers fault they don’t have cars taking advantage of the bad times makes them scumbags

I'd have to think a big reason for many of us choosing to buy a Maverick is because it's a great little vehicle at a very good bargain price. Even more so, a hybrid, which will continue to save you money each time you can drive right past the gas station. Now, when you decide you are going to pay these huge markups, you've left the concept of a bargain price and just want a Maverick and want it NOW, regardless of what it costs. If you're going to pay upwards of $40K, there are plenty of other vehicles to choose from and fuel savings probably isn't important to you.

Are the dealers who mark them up like this greedy? Absolutely. Will many of us just laugh in their face? I hope so. As P.T. Barnum famously said, "There's a sucker born every minute." Or perhaps this famous saying - "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Plenty of cars to buy on the lot at MSRP or even at a discount. Like I said, you don't NEED a Maverick. This is the equivalent to saying you broke your phone and need a new one but despite the fact that you can go out and buy a brand new decent smart phone outright for under $200 you MUST HAVE the latest and greatest iPhone just after it's been released when everyone wants one. The only scumbag is the person who DEMANDS that dealers sell at the SUGGESTED price when there are other vehicle options to purchase at or even below cost.

Why are people so entitled?

Well hope you have a great day I have a quote that is 10,000 less than what the “Scumbag “ tried to charge me
Signed consumer who isn’t a scumbag and won’t be gouged but you feel free to allow yourself to be abused at the dealership

I don't allow myself to be abused, I have a signed agreement for the Maverick I ordered at X-plan pricing. And if I didn't order one I'm not about to go out thinking I could get one for MSRP when others are willing to pay $10k over for one. I mean, more power to them, I don't think that makes smart money sense but who am I to decide how other people spend their money. Also, who am I to judge a dealer for making profit when others are more than willing to pay a large ADM?

Price gouging is disgraceful I don’t understand how any intelligent human being could justify that kind of behavior you were quick to judge me but you won’t judge a dealership makes me wonder if you aren’t a car salesman. You have a great day

You don't understand because it's not price gouging, learn what that applies to. An ADM on a Maverick is supply and demand for a non-essential item to purchase. Price gouging would apply to milk or water or toilet paper, not the hottest vehicle on the market when there are so many other option to purchase.

If you think it's price gouging I implore you to reach out to your state senator and post the response that they agree or are going to do something here, that is if you get one, which you won't. You're really showcasing your level of intelligence and critical thinking skills here.

Some people only look at a monthly price. As long as a dealer can get you down to something a buyer finds palatable per month, they are good. I heard 96 month loans are all the rage now.

Where? New cars here in SoCal all have markups if they are sitting on the lot. The Hyundai dealer by work is the first one I have found selling new vehicles at MSRP. There is one Ford dealer by my house, all Mach E's - 20k markup, all trucks - 15k markup, Broncos - 12k. Everything else between 5 & 10k. They had a first Edition 2 door Bronco that someone backed out. 50k markup on a 60k vehicle, and somebody called and paid cash.

It is what it is right now, but I would hate to be somebody that needed a new car immediately.

It never ceases to amaze how people cheer for the law of supply and demand whenever it starts gouging the customer. It's like cheering for gravity as a plane crashes.

Plenty of leftover 2021 models in the Maryland/Virginia area, Hyundais, Fords and if you really need a truck you can get a rwd tacoma for MSRP, plenty of those around. Nobody NEEDS AWD, that's just a fallacy. I lived on the Canadian border for years with FWD and RWD and never had a single problem.

This is more entitlement than anything.
