If you own a house, I suspect you wont hesitate to get the highest price if and when you go to sell it. No matter how high the price.

No, no, no, they'll definitely do what's morally right and sell it for a reasonable price despite the homes around them selling for outrageous prices so someone can have a roof over their head.

The state attorney general on Tuesday announced he has sued two related car dealerships, accusing them of deceptive pricing practices.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha said that Grieco Honda, of Johnston, refused to sell vehicles at the advertised prices, instead adding a $5,000 "addendum fee" to the price.

Neronha also said that Grieco Toyota, of East Providence, advertised "wholesale" prices, a term that is forbidden in car ads.

Neronha seeks to have customers reimbursed for the amount they overpaid, as well as fining the dealers up to $10,000 for each violation of the state's Deceptive Trade Practices Act, fines that could total more than $1 million.

Unfortunately dealer owners have whole operations to run. Office workers to pay, detailers, rent, electric all that. If they used to sell 200 new cars a month, and now sell 40-50, how do you think they'd stay in business selling for MSRP or less? They wouldn't. So they have to charge more. Yes, it sucks. But the solution for the consumer is to not pay those prices unless you absolutely have to.

I will not feel sorry in two years when cars values drop 50% and all these people are so upside down on their loans. The worst ones are the ones that bought 3-4 year old cars for the price of new ones. They will be so far upside down on their car and the warranty expired years ago.

He better hope for no accidents or drastic financial challenges...they'll be so upside down...it'll be devastating financially.

They likely won’t be upside down. People paying over have the disposable income and just pay the price.

There are two kinds of people who pay over. People who money is nothing to them, and impatient people. Personally, I don’t care what others do with their money.

It seems simple, if you don’t like and agree with markups, don’t buy.

First of all you didn't provide a link. Second of all, it's essentially a charge and probably a publicity stunt for an attorney general up for re-election. Come back at me when they are actually convicted of deceptive price practices and made to pay a fine. Like I said, it's referred to as MSRP for a reason and all of the dealers at least local to me are advertising their ADM on their site. The fact of the matter is that people are more than willing to pay seemingly up to a 10k ADM on a new Maverick. Go hire a lawyer and sue.

People are acting as if this ADM is something new with the Maverick but it has been around for many years. If you don't like the price, go somewhere else. I am not condoning the markup on ordered units tho.

Your not smart enough to look it up? My maverick is in my driveway. I don’t need to sue. I didn’t pay more than MSRP. Dealer tried price increase while vehicle was in transit to dealership with additional fees and costs to the tune of thousands of dollars. He told me he wouldn’t remove charges and I could walk away or pay “market price” I didn’t have to walk away. I provided proof what he was doing was illegal and in violation with documents provided by Dept of Motor Vehicles and Dept of Consumer protection. Manager removed bogus charges immediately and my vehicle was in my driveway the next day.

Just wondering, since we are still technically in a "state of emergency" because of COVID, wouldn't that be considered price gouging and subject to fines and possibly jail time? Not taking either side of this debate but just wondering....
