I just took possession of my Lariat Tremor less than a week ago and I have to say the keyless entry system is a must have for me. I had this on my 2013 C-Max and liked it but it is even better on this vehicle. This was one thing that moved me up trim. Once you have it it's like power mirrors you can't live without it. I also got the keypad because I have that on the Explorer and it's been a great feature.

Agreed. I upgraded from my '23 XLT to a '24 Lariat primarily for the push to start button, which also includes the keyless entry. Good to see the MY25 XLT has it, disappointed that the '25 Ranger XLT does not.

it's a feature that's quite possible to do wrong, though.

my '06 Miata is an example. Credit-card sized thing that holds the key, and a stub in the key socket (which you can remove to use the key. a subgenus valet once dashed into the restaurant after me because I'd "leftie behind" )

Anyway, there are buttons at the door and under the trunk to release, as long as the key is in the specific distance.

And if the doors are closed, it locks as you walk away.

It's a convertible, you morons!

I *don't* want my convertible doors locked; all that does is get you a slash roof.

And the manual refers to a dealer being able to set it to unlock on approach, but no dealers were willing to do it, citing liability.

It's refreshing to see someone else GETS IT.
I feel the same way about soft fabric tonneau covers.
Unless it's a folding hardtop convertible. Never lock the doors and never keep anything of value in a convertible. That includes the glove compartment. Keep your documentation in the trunk under the mat if there is one.
Locking the doors could cost you a new top. Ask yourself. Am I keeping something in the car worth $2-$5,000?

one day at y then office, both of the other two convertible owners got their tops slashed (another Miata, and a Porsche).

heck, I probably hadn't even put the top up under the parking shade.

the Porsche owner never dropped his, afraid of cracking the leather!

Having a traditional key was a must for me. Moved from Lariat to XLT. Cloth seats were icing on the cake.
Yes sir I agree getting into my Maverick when it's 117° outside you don't want leather or vinyl i.e. active-x

I see your point in that case but not sure what it has to do with the Maverick. I had this feature on my 2013 C-Max and didn't have valet issues. The only issue i had was not realizing there was a physical key in the FOB to get in when the battery died. That was just a learning curve issue.

The benefit of never needing to remove the key from my pocket out weighs any other issues for this vehicle.

Iam old fashion an old I can't bring myself to lock my keys in the truck, even forgot the code after not using the keypad for the first year or so till the truck locked while running and me on the outside, still don't use it but I won't forget the code ever again.

The door on my Miata was locked once- when I took it to a shop to get work. They didn't lock the passenger door. LOL

I too LOVE the Maverick keypad- had one on my 91 Taurus SHO, too.

Sh💩 happens. 😄
Hazards of owning a convertible.
You learn real quick not to park under a tree.
Have to say this. The scene in caddy shack where the Smails kid pukes in the car. For some reason that sticks in my mind.

My wife swears to not get a push button start vehicle. She loves the idea of inserting and turning the key. It's a tactile feedback thing and i get it but then you will be driving down trim or older vehicles.
