It won't change anything other than the likelihood of your vehicle being stolen. Insurance also won't help you if you leave your key in your vehicle. Put a float on your key in water tight bag instead.

Hand the key to you significant other and blame it on them if it gets lost or damaged .

James,
Fear-mongering aside.
Absolutely. The keyless entry keypad will allow you to lock your key inside your Maverick. When my wife and I go to the national parks, I always leave the key fob inside the Maverick, just in case something happens to me, she's got a way to get back into to the truck. If we take the dog to the lake, we don't have to worry about the fob getting wet or losing it in the water.

The keypad locks the truck with the key fob inside and is non active until the valid entry code is entered into the keypad or you use the second key fob to unlock the truck.

Probably one of the best Quality of Life upgrades I've purchased. I run three different restaurants and have a separate set of keys for each one. Being able to leave my truck keys and other restaurant keys in my truck when I'm at work really lightens my load. I hunt fairly frequently and have lost my keys in a field before. It took my group 2 hours of searching and some luck in a cut corn field to find them. Now I can just leave them in the truck.

It would be great if this were true, but it is not.

A faraday bag & good hiding spot is your only option.

Interesting test for the alarm system.

Which is activated when you lock with remote according to manual.
Does a lock with keypad also activate alarm?

Lock with keypad.
Open door with key.
Does dashboard tell you there is 30 seconds to start the vehicle?

Testing if fob left in cab is still active after a keypad lock though.
Is sitting in backseat while keypad locked by someone enough?
Attempt a start with fob in vehicle?
I'd suggest letting fob sit in a spot for 2 min to confirm it's gone to sleep and don't disturb it. Shouldn't be sending out any signals about it's presence at that point.
Test the On button. No brake pushed should do Acc mode right?
Then move fob, like it was found - test again since truck knows it's in cab now.

Exactly what I did....for my '22, the truck started right up after the key fob was locked in the truck with the key pad. ( I just left the window down & reached in)

One fail potential to the 1st test.

On non-keyless entry the unlock with key results in the alarm going off - well if you don't start in 30 seconds.
Because there is no transponder reader on the door lock - only the ignition.

But with keyless entry unlock with key - the fob is sending out it's transponder info because it's being moved - and truck is reading it - hence keyless entry.
So that may not work as a test unless someone has that spare fobless key only with no chip in it.

Well that's boring compared to getting locked in the truck by someone else.

Couldn't you have at least tried a dukes of Hazzard entry!

At my age, I fully embrace working smarter, not harder.... 😛
