I have a Lariat/Lux/360+ which, of course, includes remote start. I confirmed this using the app. My question is why did the truck come with the regular key fob and not the one with the remote start button? Is this just something extra to buy separately or did ford/dealer make a mistake? Not that big of a deal. Just wondering.

So with your doors locked, if you hit lock two more times with your Fob does your truck start?

Thanks for the info. I know it’s on my truck because I’ve started the vehicle using the app. It could come in handy when it has been sitting out in the hot Florida sun.

My xlt without any lux packages can start via the FordPass app as well, if you didn’t get the remote start fob then I assume you don’t have that option and dealership didn’t make a mistake.

The remote start option is just the key fob. Every maverick can be remote started with the app. I think the fob was included on luxury packages for 2022 but separate for 2023.

So all I need to do is to buy the right key fob & have it programmed to match the truck?

You would need to retrofit an OEM remote transceiver module and use something like Forscan to configure the IPC and BCM that it's there. Probably similar-ish to this procedure for F-150's.

The RTM module itself actually isn't that expensive ($50 MSRP) but I don't know if the connectors/wiring are present on non-factory-equipped vehicles. Edit: It appears to be above the headliner behind the front dome light. Don't know how accessible it is without dropping the headliner.

No - you're not understanding the answers being given to you...

ALL Mavericks have the ability to be remote-started with the FordPass app. All trim levels. It uses the telemetric systems built into your Maverick to work. It can be a bit slow, because the signal from your phone has to go to Ford's server via your wireless carrier, then the start request gets sent from Ford's server to your truck via the AT&T wireless that is built into your truck. Only then does the engine start.

This is NOT the same feature as the remote start feature that is OPTIONAL (at extra cost) even on the Lariat trim levels. That option has a separate "receiver" and a different key fob that communicate directly to each other when you're in range. You press the appropriate key combination (within range) and the truck immediately starts. No "wireless carrier" involvement at all.

I also saw an alternate option to DIY install a box that can remote start with existing fob. But I don't remember when/where on this forum I saw it...

I have the XLT and I have used both the key FOB and my phone to start my Maverick. My wife and I were approaching it from a restaurant and it stated a good 60' away.

The farther one stores the FOBs from the vehicle the faster the batteries deplete, as thee FOBs supposedly are always searching for the vehicle. This seemingly was true on my Honda Passport EXL.
