NZ1Z18K463A backorder remarks PENDING DESIGN/ENGINEERING CHANGE, SUPPLIER IS PAST DUE, LATE ENGINEERING CHANGE, ETA TBD
Sounds like they found fault with the original part design and haven't enough "new" stock for repairs. Sort of like the airbag fiasco where the "new" parts went to Mexico before the dealers.

I wonder if this is the same issue as mine: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...-exhaust-exhaust-pipe-auxillary-heater.25423/

But your dealer told you it had to do with the battery coolant? My HVB coolant reservoir was still full but the radiator/ICE reservoir was empty. That circuit leaks about 1qt per hour. No crossover between the two tanks.

I'm thinking it's a different part maybe. They aren't replacing my whole exhaust, only the individual part that sits on top of the exhaust pipe. But it sure sounds like the same problem, coolant dripping off the exhaust pipe near the HVB under the back of the cab. I didn't let mine get so low as to throw a CEL... had friends calling me telling me my new truck was pissing all over their driveway!

We had a deal on a used 22 XLT that fell through as it had a gas leak at the gasket between the tank and filler neck that we discovered. It also had the "exhaust system" issue. The dealer claimed it had 2 exhaust pipes delivered by FEDEX that were damaged in shipping. Then they said no more were currently available. Maybe part of the shortage is due to shipping damage issues. Anyway they called and said they had a new 23 that the OP declined to take. They actually gave us a better deal than on the used one in regards to trade-in and AMD. We picked it up last Friday.
BTW we had them put the new one up on the lift before we took delivery. No gas leak and I got to see the exhaust pipe with the heat exchanger, It's one piece from the CAT back. We still have 2 XLTs with lux package on order.

Was informed earlier that his week...pushed back to May to get the part to fix my truck......my truck will sit at the dealership twice as long as I have personally had in my possession guess Ford wants to keep selling new trucks to get the numbers up ..not keep the customers rolling
Come on. 5 months to get a part is absurd

My new exhaust part is on back order. Same problem with the heat exchanger. I didn’t want to run around in their loaner so I picked my Mav back up.
if the parts are back ordered until May then I will have to turn the truck back in cause it won’t pass inspection until that CEL is resolved… so I will be out a vehicle again.

That is the start of it ....dripping after driving
i have hybrid with 16k km's (canada) and I noticed the dripping/puddle right in the middle of the truck after parking it - it was a lot of water too

2 weeks ago my check engine light has been going on then turning off on its own
dealer said they couldn't get the part to fail the test to trigger replacement so they tightened some pins or something - the next day the light came back on so they said they will order the heat exchanger but its fine to drive

was told the part is on back order and could be months

Can't people "repair" stuff anymore?

Hit that sucker with some epoxy, bailing wire, duct tape, JB Weld, or TIG Weld just to get ya by for a couple of months?

What's this world come to???
SMH

Does anyone know if this had been corrected for the 2023 models?

We've had a similar part on backorder for nearly a year for Volvo hybrids as well (high voltage coolant heaters, over a hundred of them backordered at my dealer alone). Part constraints are industry wide, not just for Ford. The really bad part of it all is that half of the parts we do receive are damaged during shipping, prolonging the delays.

Yes. 1000% more friendly than replacing parts.

Plus if I'm not driving the hybrid Mav I'm going to drive a pre-catalytic converter vehicle and I'm going to use gasoline with lead added to lubricate the cylinders.
