I had just recently gone in to get my hybrid maverick updated with the TSB bulletin PCM Update for the engine surging, and rotten egg smell being omitted from it. That was a great fix, as I don't have the issue anymore. I figured beforehand that was why my service engine light came on, until I plugged a service tool inside of the car. I came back as a valve being open in the Exhaust Heat exchanger. Bringing it in next week for them to diagnose the issue, and potentially get a new part ordered, or have them fix it. Anyone else relate? I am sure it's on the post forum somewhere, but I figured I would post about it because I just had a TSB fix, and now I got another issue. Truck seems to be really better after that PCM update and is drivable. I notice the heat takes a little longer to come, but that's hybrids I assume. What does this part do in-particular? Never heard of it only because this entire car is new technology for me. Thanks, looking forward for more information, and the conversation. What would cause a valve to stay open?

Area I'm currently in is COLD when it is winter. Winter must have something to deal with the exhaust system and the way it operates. Of course, hybrid engines aren't the best in cold weather, as everything is more "complex". I haven't noticed any "glowing", nor have I noticed unusual engine temperatures. If anything, my hybrid is always on the cool side. Most cases it doesn't even reach the first tick in the engine temperature gauge. I want to be clear that service engine tools are not the best route to go when it comes to the service light being on. So, I figured I would take it in again next week per my service advisor. I will let you all know. I'm hoping I don't have to wait for parts or need new parts. I'm assuming the truck is so new, that it could be something loose, or faulty. I have a hard time believing it could be something that just gave out or stopped working correctly. I blame it on the polar vortex

It is fun learning about a FWD HYBRID, first time driving one for a whole year, and experiencing new/old technology that I've never driven.
