Saw a comment from someone the other day about how hauling a kayak in their truck bed after pulling it out of salt water ended up rusting out their tailgate/tow hitch as the water got down into the crack between the tailgate and bed. That was a Toyota, but now I'm getting a little worried about whether the same thing could happen to a Maverick (with bed liner). My routine is I throw the kayak up on a rack over the truck bed when I get it out of the water, then I come home (potentially over some distance, not necessarily immediately) and rinse it down still on the rack so the bed is getting flushed out with fresh water at the same time.

Should I be worried? Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but I don't want to risk corroding anything.

Sounds like you are taking the needed steps to me. It only becomes a problem if you leave the salty water sitting there. Never thought about since I only use my kayak in fresh water lakes.
