Karavan trailers

I have been looking at a Karavan trailer at tractor supply. It looks to me this has no tiedowns! Why would a manufacturer do this? Being a tube frame you cannot even connect a strap along an edge. Anyone ever add any tiedowns?

I had the 5x8 and added semi permanent sides with tie downs.

Also a couple of zip ties to manage the wire and keep it off the ground

Adding tie downs is super easy. I could tie down anything with what's there already. The beauty of adding your own tie downs is that you can add them where YOU need, to tie down what YOU haul. I bought an Aluma KLM Motorcycle trailer that had tie downs, but they were in the wrong places. I Hauled 50-100 bikes a year, and just added new ones where I needed them to be. Worked perfect for MY needs when done.

Yes I got the idea you need to add your own. But would be nice to have a few there.

Since it doesn't have any, just get some heavy duty D rings from hardware store and weld or drill & bolt them on wherever you want them.

I think that is a good question and you should ask the mfg.

Apropos of nothing, I live about 45 miles from Valley Center CA. These trailers are very popular around here in the landscape maintenace field.

Had mine for over a year. Used it probably 30 times with mostly dump and recycling loads. I just take the long strap and loop it around the tube and through its own hook(cant come off that way) and then on the ratchet end loop the short strap around the tube and back to the ratchet chassis or the sewn in loops provided in the short strap. Works pretty well for me. I also employ a short bit of 750lb paracord tied in a loop with a caribiner in it. I like my straps to be locked so even if they shake and loosen they dont come free. Probably the trucker in me, but I like secure loads.
