EDIT -- UPDATED 5/4/24

Sadly these speakers don't seem to last -- after about three months the one in the right dood developed a terribly annoying flutter, so I suspect it's blown out. I'll be repalcing them with something else soon.

I always thought the stock XLT speakers were decent enough, but I have a long road trip coming up so I decided to give the speakers an upgrade. Very impressed with these. Very reasonable price and it only took about an hour to install all 4 speakers (2 in doors, 2 tweeters in dash). No cutting of anything, no splicing - true plug and play. The trickiest part was trying to remove the covers over the tweeters in the dash (the edge along the a-pillar doesn't want to let go), but then I eventually discovered I could remove the old ones and put in the new ones without having to completely remove the cover.

When you see the stock door speakers side by side with the PowerBass speakers, you'll know immediately this is a good upgrade..

I do like the price and they look to be pretty quality and have great reviews so far.

It is something I plan on doing I just fear scratching the panels or worse during install.

I also would like to install a sub behind the rear seat.

I'm skeptical because reviews are hit and miss. I'm not sold that it's much of an upgrade for the B&O compared to just getting another brand and a little modding to the brackets for the price.

You got me at "no splicing". Putting this in my "to do" list when the moolah is appropriate!

right. and just to be clear, the OP is talking about upgrading non-B&O. I see the value there for sure.

_ for B&O _
the 6.5 will definitely be an upgrade, the tweeter is subjective. the stock B&O tweeter is surprisingly capable. I am not at all concerned about removing stock connectors and splicing, I've done it for a couple decades now, lol. The correct molex connector is nice to have, but hardly necessary.

I replaced the two door speakers and the two rear speakers with kicker speakers.
Model
43dsc404
43dsc6704

Cost around $100+ for all four and it has made a real difference. Did not attempt to do the dash tweeters. Still need some base now that the sound is so much cleaner.

Might get the dash tweeters and like a small all in cased sub. See how that goes

These are the stock speakers. As you can see they’re very simple and laughably light — barely any magnet there at all.

regarding scratching concerns: I used a clean painters tool to gently pry off the window switch panels from the doors. I did this along the long edge that runs parallel with the door. Once you get it to pop you can angle it out. There’s a little tab along the front that helps guide it right back in when it comes time to reassemble. No scuffs or marks were made. I used a very thin metal washer to pop off the little panel that covers the bolt behind the door pull. Again, no marks. Then for the tweeter grills I used the edge of the washer again, starting my prying on the edge toward the center of the dash. Once you can get a finger under there you can gently work your way around and pop the 3 clips that hold it in. Don’t fight the edge that abuts the a-pillar — you can get enough clearance to get in there and pop the tweeters out. There are three tabs that aim straight up. I did both sides without leaving a mark.

What type or size did you use for the tweeters?

I also swapped the stocks front door and tweeters with Powerbass speakers a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the results. Could be me, but I think that they are starting to sound even better with a little mileage on them.

Agreed. The non B&O the powerbass is a great option. I should have clarified my statement. Thank you for stating that.

For the B&O the only changes I'd make are the front doors and either add a sub or swap out that 6x9 if they make a direct replacement for it, otherwise probably not worth it either. I tested a couple different 6x9's and none of them fit. I also tested that 6.5" mod and didn't like the way it sounded.

I used what was in that kit that I linked to; they were the same size as the stock ones.
