I recently made my own hard, one-piece bed cover. I got the anodized angles cut to length from 80/20 and three 18x55 ACM panels from Falken Designs on Amazon. Nice and low profile like I wanted. I'm about $250 all in and this thing's solid, probably a little too stout for what it is really. Anyways, I couldn't justify $1200+ for something that accomplishes nearly the same thing. I've also read about plenty of the high dollar covers that are coming up short. This one gives me just enough overlap for a great seal all around. Also, I think I rolled up the bedcover on my last truck about a dozen times in two years. If I needed full access more often I certainly would have considered a different option.

This cover doesn't do any tricks, it's either on or off; but it also doesn't flap like Batman's cape on the highway. Not sure of the total weight, I'd estimate ~60-70 lbs maybe? I can remove it by myself if needed but it's easier with a second pair of hands.

I'm thinking of adding two t-slotted profiles on each side so I can mount things to it as needed, such as cross bars or for an attachment point in setting up a roof top tent on the cover.

The ACM panels gave it a really low profile of about 1/8", I added some edge trim that I had left over but that bulked it up a bit so it sits about 1/4" above now. I'm thinking I'll remove the edge trim and just polish/bevel the edges of the ACM.
Whoa this is really cool. But can you add some more detail... How does it secure to the bed? Are those aluminum angle brackets clamped to the bed rails? Does the panel mount to the brackets permanently?

Have you thought about cutting the panel and adding hinges for a folding design?

@JJC, every time I see you have posted an update to your Maverick, I ignore all my other notifications and jump to check it out. Great work. It's really a stand out in the MTC forums.

It's still a work in progress as I couldn't source any clamps locally that I really liked, but I've ordered a few replacement clamps/latches for a similar style of cover that I think I can adapt to mine. For the short term I just have a bungee strap at each corner.

For the hinging, I thought about it and it would certainly be easy to do, but for my needs a simple on or off will do.

Here's a sketch that I initially made of the concept. The equal angles run full length and are secured to the bed rails. The cover's frame is made up of unequal angles that sit atop the fixed angles. The ACM panels I attached with ~50' of 3M VHB.

The 1/4" thick angles I used are way more robust than I needed. 1/8" would have likely been adequate and reduced the weight a bit.

You say the lines are off? I don't know, cooulda fooled me.. I think that lip and gloss black lower skirting down the sides would absolutely SET. THAT. THING. OFF ! 🤯

The light curve in that lip ties in the little bit of point on your new hood vent? I think it works 🤔

This was really the only angle that looked okay. I'm going to return this one. I had a couple of other chin spoilers that I thought may work, shape-wise but I think I might just hold off until something Maverick specific comes along.

It's tricky because the Maverick bumper looks like a universal spoiler/splitter could be fitted, but upon further inspection, it has a pretty odd shape. Even if I found something that would fit well, I'd have to cut away at the OEM valance which would expose the lower subframe. I want to avoid that so I guess I'll wait..

But yes, gloss black for a chin spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser is the plan (y) I'm thinking about doing the mirror caps gloss black too. Right now the only gloss black I have is the emblems and inside of the lights, I'd like to add just a little more throughout.

Started in on my audio upgrades yesterday by running all of the wiring for my amp. Front speakers arrived today, subwoofer should be here tomorrow. I think that combo will be adequate for now (y)

Parts ordered so far:

Kicker CK4 Complete 4 Gauge OFC CK-Series 2-Channel Amplifier Installation Kit
KICKER 46TL7T82 8 Inch 2 Ohm Thin Subwoofer Enclosure
Infinity Reference 6532EX - EZFit 6-1/2” Shallow Mount Coaxial Speakers

I had this Pioneer TS-A2000LB from my last truck, so I used it to make sure I had everything wired up correctly. I already had the plastics removed from taking measurements for the Kicker so this is how it looks with those removed. This Pioneer has such a small footprint that it looks like there's a ton of room under the seats :ROFLMAO:

Here's a few pics of it in the driver's storage bin. It doesn't fit perfectly within the storage bin but it's really close, could probably make it fit better with just a little bit of trimming and then secure it to the cubby.

It's really not a bad little subwoofer for the price. I'm thinking I must have had it underpowered a bit in my last truck because it actually sounds pretty good down-firing under the Maverick's backseat. I'm still looking forward to getting the Kicker L7T, I don't think the two will really be any comparison.

Got my sub today, but I screwed up 🤦‍♂️

Ripped open the box out of excitement, thought to myself, wow, that's massive for an 8". Took it out to the Maverick, fought with it for a few minutes before realizing it was not going to fit under the seat. I pulled up the dimensions on my phone and this box was measuring just lightly larger than the specs I found online. Then I thought maybe I was sent the 10" instead of the 8", nope. I checked my order and that's when I realized I bought the 10" Kicker instead of the 8". I had both in my cart at one point and somehow ordered the wrong one 😅 The enclosure for the 10" is 12" in height (or width in my case as I'm using it on it's back under the seat) whereas the 8" is only 11-1/4".

Anyways, it rocks. Even with the same power source, it's significantly better than the little Pioneer. Returning this one is off the table since I've used it, guess I'll just have to find a way to make it fit. I've got right in the middle for the time being. Trying to decide if I want to modify the kicker box or just start from scratch..

Here are the measurements for the 10" vs the 8". I don't have the 8" in hand to confirm whether or not it fits but considering that the 10" is really close to fitting, I think the 8" would work with the plastic storage bin removed/trimmed.

10" - 20-1/4" W x 12" H x 7-1/4" D1 x 4-3/8" D2
8" - 19-5/8" W x 11-1/4" H x 6-1/4" D1 x 3-5/8" D2
