One nice thing about a topper is it can be removed from time to time for the occasion you have a taller item. I personally am going to go with a tonneau but I see why some would go with a topper depending on their use case. Tonneaus keeps the bed dry but is also easy enough to fold up and use the truck bed for taller items. To each their own.

I am interested in the cab too. Thanks for the alternative ideas.
The advantage of the Ford cab is height and space.
The disadvantage of your design is losing height and space.
Keep sending ideas!! My Mav will not come until the new year so I have lots of time to think about it.

I would buy that trim matched canopy immediately.. looks so much better than the paint matched ones.

This is kinda what I'm thinking in the meantime. Might give it a shot next week.

I emailed A.R.E earlier this week and got this response:

Hello

Sorry these are in design and testing stage at this time. We currently have no ETA until ALL testing has passed. Once this happens our Engineers will release a date for production.

Please keep in touch with your A.R.E dealer as they are updated on new releases. We do not have a list of units that will be designed for this truck at this time.

If I buy a Maverick it will be when toppers are available for a realistic price. I like the extra height of the Snug Top but the price seems high.
I agree that the trim color topper looks good.

I definitely want a canopy, but the price and function of what I'm seeing is not worth it. I like the photoshopped look that was posted. I also like mine to be taller than the cab to provide extra space. The vertical back allows for that as well. Canopy manufacturers take note!

In response to the "Why not just buy an SUV?":
A wet dog in the back of an SUV doesn't excite me. Carrying gas cans, chainsaws, anything with fuel inside a cab, no thanks. Carrying anything that gets dirty....firewood, bags of cement, garbage cans....I just prefer that to be in a different space.

Pretend the shark fin and antenna can be relocated to a cap that is taller and extends onto/over the cab of the vehicle. Thinking about maybe a foot or so with a rise of 6-8". Add a roll top for full bed access and you'll have a winner.

Best it would appear would be something like the older discovery or Xterra suvs, but black and removable.

The only way a topper will work for most/or ME is this one. By adding/including a roof rack that helps justify the costs of not needing to add a $700-$1000 rack system. But closer to the $2,200 price range…and they’d sell a bunch of them. Plus better aerodynamics.

Your design is nice on outside. What about inside? Does your window against the cab match the window on the cab? Can it be opened? Also, can the sides and tailgate window open?

Update - RSI is not developing a canopy/topper for the Maverick at this time.

Hope A.R.E comes up with something cool as choices are going to be limited.

Dogs, dog hair. It blows around the cabin and gets on absolutely everything. Topper fixes this issue in the winter and comes off in the summer so the dogs can enjoy the air
