Why doesn’t someone have a warehouse to make the part. Then ship it next door to install the part? Why do so many parts need to be made in so many places

stupid

Read your contract or purchase agreement. I bet they wrote themselves a loophole. They may not have to honor the price and you don't have to accept a higher price. I don't know unless you read what you signed.
My sales agreement is with Granger Ford and they will honor the sales agreement. I have purchased from them 3 years ago and countless members of MTC have also purchased from them. You will not find a more honest dealer in the US.

This was informative, at least to me. What a mess this is going to be...

Mexico requires that auto manufactures that want to sell their vehicles in Mexico HAVE TO HAVE AN AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING facility in Mexico. So do many other companies....That's why Mercedese, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, VW, etc. etc. have factories in Mexico just to be able to sell their vehicles in Mexico... This trade agreement has been in effect at least 20+ years....and not going away...or will be enforced by Mexico with import taxes.

The US has some of these same trade agreement with auto makers. My and wife's Honda's were made in Ohio, BMW Suv S. Carolina, VW made in Mexico. Porsche Cayman-S in Finland., etc. MiniCooper had an engine plant in Brazil, just so they could sell cars in S. America.

VW bugs were built for many yrs in Mexico long after leaving the US market...being sold to South American countries. Auto mfgers make a low margin, (Tesla-11.7%, Porsche 11.x %, Ford Maverick is probably 5-7%...if costs like emission changes, safety requirement, tariffs etc..take away the margins people like Maverick's sales drop, and eventually drop the product line if it's not PROFITABLE at the profit margin%. Auto mfgrs always look at their profit margins for product offerings. Maverick is doing very well in popularity, but it tariffs lowered the price too low it changes the picture. There is no way Ford or any car maker will EAT the tariffs, they have to pass them on to the consumer.

With China (and others) coming out with $18,000 to $25,000 all EV small pickups the Mav may get some hard competition.

As most know the first 2 yrs of Maverick production was greatly hampered by shortage of micro-chips. If China's tariffs on chips is severe that will further hamper availability and/or shortage of chips.

Why? Capitalism in a nutshell. Some companies just do a better job at making things at the price point the vehicle manufacture is willing to pay. Simple as that. Wouldn't you want the best company, regardless of location, making your stuff rather than a mediocre or poor one that happens to be closer? There is also the issue of patented technology, that company in the US, Canada or Mexico may be the only one that has the rights to make that component that is needed!

I personally think it will take longer to actually impose tariffs after saying they start tomorrow or Monday. Too many moving parts to just throw a monkey wrench in our economic engine.
Some of 47's executive orders have weeks or months of planning and approval before they are actually implemented. Just my 2 cents.

It's all over the news up here, starting Tuesday: 25% on everything except oil, which will be taxed at 10%.
With Canada as America's largest foreign supplier of oil, gas prices down here will likely be affected quickly and significantly. Then food prices, as shipping feels it.

As long as it is not lowest bid competition that doesn't account for overruns and corner cutting. (Retired military)

I just took delivery of my 2025 Eruption Green Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid a week ago and still have less than 250 miles on it as much as I love it and being I’ve added a few upgrades I’d be willing to let it go for $75,000😂
