As most have stated ... yes it is probably normal and yes the dealer should be able to track your order while it is in transit. For me: I received an email from Ford stating my order was in transit with a pretty wide date range for arrival. My dealer contacted me and initially stated to expect delivery 2-3 Aug. However, my dealer emailed me at the beginning of the week that my Maverick was on a train to Delaware but to expect a delay as there are issues with transportation by truck from the train depot to the dealership. Good luck!So I recently purchased a 2023 Tremor from a local dealership in western WA. They had been keeping an eye out for me and on 7/13 I received an email saying that they had one coming in. I know they’re not supposed to sell a vehicle before it has been delivered but they did anyway.
While at the dealership I was told that the vehicle had an estimated delivery date of 7/27. They also said that it was currently on a truck and they knew that it had already crossed the border.
Over the last few weeks I have reached out for updates a few times and each time have been told “no update” and most recently “we can’t really track the orders”. This seems inconsistent with the original statement of “it’s on a truck and across the border”, how could they know this without some sort of tracking capability?
Well I started digging and was able to find my window sticker, and was then able to use the Ford order tracking site. The current status is “built 7/4”. This would indicate that it still hasn’t shipped but has been waiting to do so for a month.
So my question, is it normal for the tracker to lag this far behind or did my dealership just lie about what they knew? Also, is it common for an order to be built and then wait a whole month to ship?
Correct, once you have done paperwork and reported it sold to Ford, they can not track it anymore. We have lost several vehicles in the past by doing this and refuse to do that any more.Wellll......I just remembered something...that might make this bad. Did you say you already purchased it? Like 100% bought it and paid and signed all the paperwork? If it was there, they would have already handed you the keys and kicked you out the front door? If so.....they may not be jerking you around. I believe @fordvideoguy has said that once it is sold, dealer cant track it anymore. This is why his dealership doesn't like to "sell" them before they arrive. @fordvideoguy , am I correct in that recollection?

I almost did that because I thought the dealer was going to sell my truck since he said, are you sure you want it since I’ve waited so long. Glad I didn’t.Correct, once you have done paperwork and reported it sold to Ford, they can not track it anymore. Thanks again paneubert for offering to help with the rail tracking but it looks like there’s nothing to track yet.@Psilosparky , any update? Post (or private message me) the railcar number when you get it from the Ford Customer Support Line and I can track it for you. I have gotten really good at understanding the robot lady who talks to you when you call the railroad tracking phone number.
It’s in SnohomishWhat county is this dealership in?
