This.....two reason to plug the phone in. 1. To CHARGE it. 2. Because some drivers do not want passengers to hear the phone conversation as it starts/continues over a Bluetooth(truck speaker) connection. :)

So, with the wireless adapters, you plug something in so that you don't need to plug something in?

Ok. Yeah. I get it.

I just use a USB drive for my music. Nothing I do with my phone that a wireless connection isn't going to be good enough for.

Well. Once.
Instead of every time you get in, whether you need charging or not.

The idea is setup and forget it, so you get the experience like even older vehicles - get in, phone connects to whatever level you want - done. No cables, maybe an OK on the dash screen for approval.

The wireless adapter is a one time plug in...
Then You only start the Mav' and drive!
Maps, music, text, phone calls in the screen

Ditto.
Even more so, because my charging level out of the powerport with the adapter I have - can't even charge the phone when used as navigation.
And I don't leave BT on anyway.

Have you tried a different cable - I have had cables do that exact thing seem to work but will not allow the phone to charge...

This is one of those adapters that shows the Volts in the power port - for that morning check as to which way the battery is going (not sure why I watch - I know which way it's going!).
It also shows the Amps provided out the 2 USBs. And despite the claim of 2.4A single (maybe combined) - it normally shows below 1A. Which barely works for the old phone doing Forscan with no cell, BT and GPS only with screen on.

But now that you mention it - maybe it's not messed up, maybe it is smartish - and it's providing what it thinks the cable can take. I'll do a swap to confirm.
Going to be aggravating if that's it, as I've done those swaps before.
My bad assumption of a poor adapter.
