just a voltage/amperage : state of charge monitor.

You can take off your tin-foil hat. It's the BMS that monitors 12v batter charge/discharg level, etc. Sometimes, not very well, either.

One reason is to shut off the start stop when voltage low or charge rate high. On some vehicles it is important to let it sit if you remove terminal for five minor so, and insure that if you replace battery the new battery is fully charged. I am Not familiar with Fords use of this, want to know more.
