Just curious if anyone knew the certified emissions standard on the Maverick. I read a BMW article that showed how to get a new battery for the i3 because it was certified as SULEV in CA which meant 15 years 150k miles! There's a huge list of components covered for the SULEV BMW cars that are sold in CA as well as other states that have adopted the standard. Searching on youtube, videos showed that people are getting free engines and pricey repairs covered by BMW so naturally it got me to thinking if either variant of the Maverick are certified as SULEV. If anyone can post the emissions stickers on EB and Hybrid that would be an easy tell as my google hasn't turned up anything. TIA

OMG that's awesome! If you're in CA that's 150k miles or 15 years on all emission related parts which I believe includes the engine? Someone would have to look into the warranty info in the owners manual to get an idea. Wonder if there's a parts list that's covered. I found one for BMW online.

  • According to CARB: California mandates that PZEV certified vehicles be covered for 15 years/ 150k miles for all emissions related parts and batteries or energy storage devices of vehicles certified to the Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) emissions standard be covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. To determine your vehicle's emissions standard, refer to the emissions label under the hood of the vehicle to verify eligibility or contact the manufacturer directly for verification.

SULEV also has the same coverage as PZEV. I found some reference to at some point that wasn't the case, but it was at least early-2000's so not really relevant in this case. (SULEV is tricky to search because it's inundated with discussions of people who buy shitty, constantly breaking BMWs)

It doesn't categorically cover "the engine" but elements like the variable timing/valves/camshaft/cylinder head.

I hear ya but I'll deal with the extra acronyms if it gets me a 15 year 150k warranty on some pricey parts for the hybrid.

If that works. California has more people than Canada, so Ford targeting California means the rest of us benefit. The thing about manufacturer warrantees is Ford doesn't intend to pay them. It's cheaper to build a vehicle with parts that will last.

Nothing is free. If it results in increased cost for Ford, it will be passed on to all customers whether they want it or not. California dictating things for the rest of the country is not a good thing. Why not just pass a law that says they must cover them for 25 years? or 50 years?

Don’t be jealous, this time maybe CA has it right.

If that is the case sulev 30 warranty is amazing. Example, Just had a part go out on 2016 fusion energi. First cel ever thrown. 12000 mi. P0C2A Says transmission aux pump. Googled AT PZEV Rating ,(like sulev 30 but older) part covered 15/150. Dealer said warranty and fixed it. Part of repair included replacing all transmission fluid too. 10 qts on work order, 1 to prime pump.
$1200 about said the dealer
