The allocation system is designed for normal times (mainly stock sales) so it’s an annoyance when the bulk of orders are retail.This whole allocation system only serves to keep dealers happy anyway. Retail orders should be direct to customers. Tesla is really onto something in this regard. The best dealerships make sales painless and do a good job selling you on parts and service.
But Ford constantly changes allocations and always prioritizes retail orders. Since Maverick is a sellout case, allocations will be changed to more or less conform to confirmed orders. It’s not in Ford‘s interest to send unsold stock to one place, with firm retail orders remaining unfulfilled elsewhere.
(BTW, agree Tesla’s direct ordering model is better for retail orders, but Ford is still handcuffed by franchise laws)
