This whole allocation system only serves to keep dealers happy anyway. Retail orders should be direct to customers. Tesla is really onto something in this regard. The best dealerships make sales painless and do a good job selling you on parts and service.
The allocation system is designed for normal times (mainly stock sales) so it’s an annoyance when the bulk of orders are retail.

But Ford constantly changes allocations and always prioritizes retail orders. Since Maverick is a sellout case, allocations will be changed to more or less conform to confirmed orders. It’s not in Ford‘s interest to send unsold stock to one place, with firm retail orders remaining unfulfilled elsewhere.

(BTW, agree Tesla’s direct ordering model is better for retail orders, but Ford is still handcuffed by franchise laws)

It is not really about being patient. It's about not disclosing Ford's allocation system that lets people cut the line in front of you.
They told me that my Mav was going to be rdy in 3 to 4 moths. we are at 5 moths now and I can see people waiting even longer... 9 months lol !! seeing people (Is not their fault) getting build before them Yes that not cool.... thinking that my maverick will be ready on 2023 😭 Not Fun!!!

I am really thinking they are going to start my truck on Feb 21st, and thanks to the chip shortage it is going to sit to be finished like so many others. I am going to wait and when it does show up find out my dealership wants to overcharge me or sell it out from under me.

That's where I am at with the horror stories on these forums so far.

Ford can't pull a rabbit out of thier hat. No chips, no Mavs...plain and simple. Ordered hybrid xlt lux with 360, mud flaps, sliding rear window on 11/15 and not changing a thing.

There are orders from June that are not built yet even though others who ordered in Sept Oct are already driving their Mav.

A dealer, including Tim at LM, should be honest about everything that affects your place in line and disclose that your build depends greatly on how many orders they have vs allocations. LM now has over 500 orders and their line is still 300-400 long. Now the chip shortage is getting worse. People who should have been already driving their Mavs if they ordered from their local dealer like I did, now have to decide to drop lux or the safety features of 360 to get built. Compromising my family's safety for blind spot and tech we are now used to is not an option. Injury attorneys could come after LM if they did not properly disclose the allocation process, and then got into a bad wreck after dropping 360 in order to get built.

Anyone who is still on permanent wait status should have been advised by their dealer that their line is too long and they should order from someone else. But they are salesmen who may not want to disclose something that will make them lose a sale.

Ford should build based on date of order, no matter which dealer you use. Their attempt to be fair to dealers with allocations, is very unfair to buyers when others are able to cut the line in front of them.
Over the course of fordvideoguy's last few videos, LM has scheduled 128 of 581 orders. The Lux is the number one item holding up builds with a 12%-15% constraint on the 25% of orders placed.

FVG's estimate is that a complex hybrid order placed after October 15th and Ecoboosts orders after December 15th have the greatest chances of being pushed to MY23.

An MY22 build price lock with the option to add new MY23 paint options and other new small stand alone options (at the MY23 price) will be an expected concession for delayed MY22 orders.

I remain cautiously optimistic on 22MY deliveries…

The Hermosillo plant (C2 vehicles Mav/BS) was not one of the ones shut down for shortages, and it continues to operate at near capacity.
No real reason to be optimistic, build dates are getting pushed back weekly.

Yes, there are plenty of downstream transport company issues. Very sorry to hear yours is stuck in transit.

But they are still being built and shipped from the factory in volume.

Long McArthur has two retail orders sitting at the Kansas City rail yard awaiting a car carrier to transport them the last 161 miles.
