Interior light option to stay-on temporarily after shutdown or before startup?

My interior lights don't seem to stay on after I shut down, nor turn on before I startup. I think normal car behavior is to have lights stay on for a minute or until you hit the 'lock' button after exiting, or lights come on when you unlock/open a door and stay on for a minute or until you start the vehicle.

For example, I park, and I hit the shutdown button, the lights come on. But as soon as I open my door they turn off, and I can't see anything as I'm trying to grab my stuff out of the backseat.

Or, I unlock the truck, open the backdoor to put my stuff in, but the lights aren't on until I actually turn on the truck.

I feel like this might have been an option somewhere in the menus but I can't find it. Or maybe it has one of those cheat-code processes for unlocking a door and pressing the brakes 3 times, etc?

These are things I've come to expect from driving our we'll optioned Prius. Still hoping for the Mav. Is yours an XL? Hope you can change it. Feature should be on XLT and above trims at least, but I don't really know.

Sounds like yours is in deep sleep. When mine is in deep sleep (95% of the time) the interior lights will not come on until you put the key in. Also the lights will turn off as soon as you open the door once you turn the truck off. If the truck is not in deep sleep then the lights come on when the door is opened and will stay on for a little after the door is closed or you hit the lock on your key.

But I think thats the headlights, not interior.

Sounds like yours is in deep sleep. When mine is in deep sleep (95% of the time) the interior lights will not come on until you put the key in. Also the lights will turn off as soon as you open the door once you turn the truck off. If the truck is not in deep sleep then the lights come on when the door is opened and will stay on for a little after the door is closed or you hit the lock on your key.

Ironically my modem isn’t working (service appointment in a couple weeks to investigate) so I can’t confirm deep sleep mode without the app.

I previously had the infamous dead hybrid and wiring harness replacement like six months ago.

I turned off all my connectivity features. So the only way I know mine is in deep sleep is by the cabin lights not turning on when the door is open or turning off instantly once I open the door after driving..

Yep. Telltale sign here is that the lights do turn on initially but quickly turn off. That's the BMS saying that the 12V battery is so low that it needs to cut off power to the interior lights in order to prevent discharging the 12V to where it can no longer start the vehicle.

I previously had the infamous dead hybrid and wiring harness replacement like six months ago.

With a cigarette style plug in voltage monitor you can see voltage of battery while truck is in accessory mode. In ready mode you will see usually 14.2-15.3 if truck is charging 12v.

Does your instrument cluster and/or infotainment start powering up as soon as you open the door or only when you go to start?

Try this:

Make sure interior light bar is set in the middle, flat

Turn on ignition but not to start

Click on high beam lights 5 times then tap brakes 3 times all within 10 sec

Watch for the batt light (takes a few secs) in the cluster to blink 3 times, this resets the Battery Monitoring System

This procedure worked for me, now all the lights operate

Did the procedure, batt light blinked.

Turned off truck, got out and locked door. Unlocked door and opened it… still no light. Maybe it takes a bit to reset all the things?

I have a multimeter and battery minder, I’ll see what the resting battery voltage is at.
