If you have kids, it will get scratches & scuffs. No way around it.

FWIW, I've about 5k mi. on my truck and I don't have any scratches on the pillar below the seat belt, where Executech's is scratched all to hell. But when I unbuckle, I don't let the metal buckle fly back against the pillar.
It’s like a slingshot heading to the pillar you have to just take it with your hand and set it over there it’s a calming Zen move before exiting the vehicle. 👍👍😀😀

I do the same thing on my Mav and on previous vehicles. I also use a clip below the buckle, to keep the lower part of the belt from being so tight against my waist/abdomen. It has an added benefit of storing the buckle up above the dark blue plastic panel that apparently scratches easily, if not careful.

If this was just a work truck, I wouldn't care, but it's my only vehicle and I try to be careful with it.

Thanks for the input.

Unfortunately the more I look into it the more I think the Mav may be built a little too cheap for me and I won't be happy long term. I think at a base $24K I'd be fine with it, but after adding a few creature comforts that I'm used to and being in the $33K range, that's really pushing it for the quality.

Such a hard choice.
What did you pay for your Outback? I had a 2014 Forester and a 2015 Outback - quality interior wise was better in the sense that plastics held up better to scratches but the interiors never blew me away.

Ford plastics scratch easy. Maverick up to F-Series King Ranches are going to have scratches on seat plastic and near seat belt plastic.

If that isn't for you then it isn't for you.

Back in the day my wife had a 2011 Prius III. The door panels and lower dash of recycled plastic scuffed easily if care was not taken. Her Lexus now does not have much bare plastic, more soft touch surfaces and that is holding up better under her use.

My 22 Mav EB had 8800 miles when I sold it and there were a few scuffs on the driver's door panel but I was able to rub silicone paste lube on the panel and they were harder to spot.

My 24 hybrid has the the same door scuffs, a damp cloth gets them off. I love 44+mpg. I am all for using recycled plastic. I think mfg's needs to experiment with embossing and patterns that do not show scuffs as readily on recycled plastic.

Overall my Mav hits all the right spots for my needs because it combines utility and practicality with a comfortable ride and size.

The interior does seem like it shows scuff marks easily. It does leave scuff marks from my laptop case where it goes in and out between the rear seat floor area and the forward door post. We use this as a truck so it's not abused but is used. A few scuff marks are no big deal for me. I got a fully loaded FX4 Lariat for $38K all options except Moonroof. I'm pretty happy. An equivalent Ranger $50K plus, F150 $70K plus and a way bigger truck that I didn't need as I have an F350 for the big loads. Ford had to take cost out somewhere so if it's plastic that shows scuffs I'm ok with it.

$39k. The interior is really nice. Soft touch everywhere and still looks new a year later. The feature set would be like a Lariat Mav with all the options but the Subaru is still nicer inside not to mention the quality.

The Mav is a really cool trucklet. I think if Ford would of kept the price at what it was when I was originally looking ($30k) I'd still be tempted. A XLT at $33-34k where I'd be losing satellite radio, a sunroof, radar cruise, leatherette and not to mention the ride quality/noise levels, that's a hard sell. A Lariat at $41 k for similar features as my Outback is just not worth it for the Mav. It still retains the same plastics etc.

The only real scratches are from my wallet chain. If the entire interior of the truck was covered in fine wood and leather. it would also be scratched by my wallet chain. Its just life. As far as the durability is concerned, everything has just enough flex to it to tell me probably wont be breaking later in its life like other vehicles from the 80s 90s that didnt have as much flex to the plastic. They all got brittle.

That is totally fair. Honestly if I got rid of my Maverick I would likely be heading back to Subaru - Forester or Outback.

It's best to give this a critical look now rather than a month after you've purchased it, right?! I think the positive for you is used Mavericks are starting to show up on lots - go check on out and see how it has held up.

At work we have Ford Explorers that have over 125000 miles. They must use a better plastic, as there are only a few scratches on the plastic. My 2022 Maverick has more scratches.

I paid $23,339 OTD for the '23 XL model Hybrid. Definitely worth it for what I want in a truck. Would I buy a luxury trim version of this cheap truck? Hell no.
All the extra gadgetry is just more shit to go wrong, and more trips to the dealer.
And the recycled plastic used for the trim pieces is definitely not very durable, if scratches are a concern for you.
We're closing in on 2yrs with our Maverick and we have two kids; we have no scratches that I am aware of, but I agree with this sentiment. I am definitely aware that I'm driving a $25k truck. Yes, I'd be a bit perturbed if I paid $35k for it...so I didn't. If you can't live without those "creature comforts", you are probably going to be a bit disappointed in interior quality, but I'm used to budget vehicles.

It's a fantastic value in the lower trims, without any real competitor. I've driven a fully optioned lariat lux and at that price I probably am not even considering a Maverick.

Thanks for the input. I think if I didn't have the Subie it would be a totally different story. Unfortunately I had to get that when shopping last year because I couldn't get my hands on a Mav for MSRP and the used market was nuts.

The Mav still seems to be a good value if you get a XL\XLT and can live without the creature comforts. After stepping back and really thinking about living with the mav for 5-7 years once the newness wears off, I think it's not for me anymore. I'm a 40's Dad who has worked his way into having some nicer things with creature comforts and I like to keep them nice :)

I'd be kinda bummed to lose the radar cruise as we take long trips once a year or so and Ford taking away the sliding rear window is kinda a big bummer too.

Maybe if the market ever normalizes and used Mav prices come down I'll snag one in the future.
