Is my truck unique here or are all the Ecoboost intake tubes like this? It doesn't fully seal into the lower airbox for some reason, there's a little gap that you can see in the picture below. Now, maybe this is for high speed conditions or something, but I can't help but ask. Also, one of my lower airbox grommets deleted itself into the ether, wondering where I can get another...

Parts that snap together like this aren't made to have a perfect seal. A gap there is nomal, and the majority of the air will still be coming from the cool location just behind the grille.

The grommet/insulator shows as a separate part number on online part sites, so you should be able to order one online or at your dealer. Part CC1Z9B929A

I will have to look at mine next chance I get. If there is a gap I will definitely be coming up with some kind of DIY seal.

Thats fair, just wanted to see if it was common. And thank you for that, I was worried id have to order the entire airbox lol

It's very common. Mine has the same gap. It's basically just how the intake tube is molded; it's not rigid enough to maintain the perfect shape. The only real drawback here is that it's pulling in a little bit of warm/hot air from inside the engine compartment but I doubt it's enough to really matter.

You're welcome.
