I totally get it. I am not saying you or anyone shouldn't. I just don't think it is a good mod to do by itself is all. Forget about the particulate issue, the performance gains are minimal when not paired with other mods or a tune. Now adding a CAI along with an oil bypass filter is a different story assuming they work as advertised by filtering engine oil down to 5 microns or less. That should minimize or negate the particulate issue with a CAI. That filter should be able the filter the CAI excess plus more which in turn should be a real across the board performance gain because the moving parts inside the crankcase can move freer.Thank you for the knowledge and taking time to reply in length!
I understand it can shorten engine life. For me, this is a fun truck. I do enjoy putting miles on it and giving it the beans. When my crosstrek got hit by a deer, I paid for this Mav in full with the insurance check. My plans are to have fun with it, and when the time comes, I will build up a motor and do the 2.3 turbo swap. I do run a pre filter on the SB as well, not sure if its helping, but mostly im not worried about it as I have too many cars as it is. I guess I am self inducing a new project at this point?
