Hey everyone, trying to install Ford's perimeter plus on my economist, but I can't for the life of me disconnect the OBD2 connection, I already took out both bolts that were holding it in place, and tried pulling on the plastic connection while I press the tab, but it just doesn't give. Any tips or advice from anyone that encountered a similar issue? Thanks in advance.

It's tight and hard to get a grip on.
I think I had to loosen it a bit side to side, maybe with help of a little screwdriver while holding down the connector's release tab. That was for an auto start/stop eliminator on 2.0L Maverick.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to try that tomorrow, couldn't even get it to budge, but I'll try with a small screwdriver tomorrow.

Since this is fresh, I notice on the Ford accessory site it states this about the perimeter alarm

  • When activated by your Ford Dealer, the Basic Remote Start System is also included; start your vehicle from up to 300' away
Do you have to get something done at the dealer to get all the features to work? I want to install this on my XL but don't want to have to go to the dealer just to get it to work.

It comes with instructions to program yourself. I bought it just for the remote start with the key fob for my non lux XLT.

For the remote start to work, there is a little plastic tab that you have to insert in the perimeter plus module. It's a very small plastic looking tab. Press lock, unlock, lock on you're key fob and it should activate the remote start. No need to take to the dealer and no programming necessary for the remote start to work.

For an XLT w/ lux that already has remote start from the fob, do the instructions indicate how the install should go? Reading threads on here about the Perimeter Plus, it seems like many purchase it solely for the remote start function. I would like to purchase this while there is a discount this month on Ford accessories and would appreciate some confirmation that it won't interfere with existing remote start function.

Also, the alerting to the app function is automatic after install?

To the people that have had the Perimeter Plus for a while, are you happy with it?

Thanks for the info!
