I got to drive the Maverick a week ago and loved everything except the straight up and down infotainment screen.

After searching the forum and not finding any threads about this I'm guessing no other tall people find this annoying, as it's not nearly as easy to see as it would be if it was tilted about 12 degrees. I'm guessing that Ford didn't do this because of the glare that tilting the screen would have caused and that the solution to the glare, a short visor over the screen didn't meet their styling requirements.

Seems to me that it would be relatively easy to 3d print a new plastic face for the screen and cubby incorporating a tilt to the screen with a short visor over the top.

I guess the question I wanted to ask is whether this even bothers anyone else?

I agree with you and I am not very tall. I would also prefer it tilted to face the driver a few degrees as well.

I haven't had the dash apart in my Maverick but I've done it in many older vehicles to replace the receiver.

I wouldn't expect it to be only a trim ring. I would expect the screen to mount in an aluminum or sheet metal frame which is bolted in. Possibly you could modify that frame and the plastic trim cover, but this will be more fabrication than the first post seems to suggest.

BTW I'm 6'0 no issues. Not tall compared to the op. 👍

It's one of the little things I'd change, too. I'm 6'2".

The biggest problem I currently have with the infotainment screen, is that the distance between where I sit while driving, and it, is way too far! I can't reach it, or tell what's going on with it. I'd even go as far to say, I can't even see the damn thing!

I know what the problem is and exactly how to fix it and I've bugged my dealer about it for months now, but I just keep getting the same responses back.

"We have done everything we can", "At this point, you know as much as we do"...

I almost had the issue resolved back in October, but Ford just couldn't deliver on their promise.

Hopefully the new date I've been given of 02/01 holds and the beginning of the process to finally fix this issue actually happens this time...

...when my truck is built! 😅🤞

My first test drive I thought the vertical profile was rather odd as well, same for the meter, very straight up & down.

But I can honestly tell you now, after almost 2 months & 2200 miles with my new Mav, it doesn't bother me at all, and I appreciate the lack of glare that vertical profile creates. I was coming out of a Honda Pilot, which has a ~20 degree slope to the infotainment screen, and there were many times on sunny days it was nearly unreadable.

So yeah, it initially seems odd, but I quickly adjusted (I'm 6'4") and now actually like it. YMMV. 🤠

I'm coming from a Prius-C that had the screen angled to the ergonomically correct position for optimal viewing... Unfortunately, that also meant that the steeply raked windshield allowed so much light to reach the screen that it was almost completely unreadable in the daylight. Of course, it was also such a dim screen that it was unreadable at night, even with the brightness (ha!) turned up all the way...

I thought "Gee, I wish that screen was angled a bit towards me, and maybe up a bit" when I first got into my new Maverick. And now, a month and 2,000 miles later, I can honestly say I've never thought about it again until reading this thread... Zero glare - ever - and plenty of brightness for daytime viewing, yet dimmable enough at night to be comfortable.

Same with my wife's 2019 equinox screen. Any sunlight I can barely see it. I hate it.
I've had no issues with the Maverick screen.

Actually, there are a couple YouTube videos out there of people installing the USB charger in the little cubby next to the screen and removing the plastic face panel. While it would require lengthening three metal mounts that the screen bolts to it's only a plastic panel that needs to be made by somebody... The three metal pieces that hold the screen need to be extended a little, but they look like flat bar stock. Looks like a very easy DYI if someone could make the little plastic face panel...

But, I guess I'll get used to it.

Ha I noticed this exact thing when I picked mine up and it was a bit annoying at first but I got used to it pretty much instantly. Doesn't bother me at all anymore

And I stand to be corrected. I saw a new video from someone selling sync 3 modules and you are correct. The screen itself looks like a fat aluminum tablet that has 3 flat bar stock pieces that extend 90degrees straight back off the bottom and are bolted to the dash. I assume the plastic face plate is attached by clips or screws. Still, should be easy to put a 10 or so degree bend into the flat stock and extend them a little... Just know nothing about the work involved coming up with the specs needed to make the plastic piece needed to fit between the screen faceplate and the dash...

When I first saw my Maverick in person, I was sure it was going to be an issue. Nope. It seems just fine to 6'2" me.

I don't like it. I would like it to be at least a few inches higher and tilted to the driver. I'm used to having my gps mounted higher. I feel like I really have to take my eyes off the road to look at the map. I think if it was 3 inches higher(or bigger), I'd like it a lot better.
