plugged in my VIN and got this:
Ford Maverick In case you expected privacy 1684784019469

the collecting is bad enough ... the selling is what "perturbs" me

I think this site is kind of deceptive, and it's also not correct. I punched in a 2023 Mav VIN I found in a public post on this site to try it out.

All that it appears to do with your VIN is figure out the manufacturer of the Vehicle and then do some kind of 'analysis' on the manufacturers Privacy and Terms of services documents. You can see that in the 'Reviewed Public Documents' section of the report - For a Mav, these are the two documents they claim they analyze:

For a Maverick, it's 'reviewing':
https://www.ford.com/help/privacy/
https://www.ford.com/help/terms/

And then it somehow uses the info on those page to come up with their (Trademarked!) 'PRIVACY LABEL'. It is *not* looking at your truck - it's just restating what Ford tells you in their public literature.

Also, I think it's flat out wrong. For example, it says "This vehicle does not have telematics, but DOES store personal data, making this car like a "hard-drive on wheels."

Every Maverick *does* have telematics - that's how the "Fordpass" app works. There is a modem in every one of our trucks that uploads all kinds of information to Ford. You can read about all it can upload here:

https://www.ford.com/help/privacy/#connectedvehicleprivacynotice

That page also explains how to reset it if you decide to sell the vehicle.

I do think it makes sense to review theFord documentation and decide if the convenience of the Fordpass App is worth the tradeoff, and it is definitely worth the time to review how to reset all the data when/if you decide to sell your truck.

But I personally would not give this site any of my personal data or sign up for their 'privacy app', there is nothing on this site you can't learn about/how to do yourself by just reading your owners manual.

I second that... this app sounds more like a "snake-oil", than an actual privacy app. Especially when it ask you to register, a.k.a. give them your PII. Even if the app would remove anything, doubtful, it is more likely to upload all of your data to their server(s). Data mining/surveillance is real and it's hard to hide from it, rather impossible. This surveillance transfers the digital infrastructure what we have to a thing that has us.

That's the only time one should worry about removing data from your vehicle, when it is sold, or becomes salvaged. Yes, you can remove data even if you don't sell it, but why you would do that? Ford already uploaded most, if not all of this data to their servers. They certainly will not delete your data from the server, even the master reset only deletes it locally.

I did believe that disabling the telemetry module would disable data collation from my Chachky almost three month ego, by removing fuse #11 or 12. This has been confirmed by Forescan, showed an error for the telemetry module. Boy, was I wrong. A week ego had the first oil change and the dealer complained about not hitting a 1K miles yet, 963 miles instead. Telemetry module might not be working, but SIM card/modem is still active and transfers data to Ford. As my sig states, vehicles nowdays are telemetry on wheels...

That page is BS. I put in the VIN of my old 2005 Subaru (no bluetooth, no GPS, no telematics) and it shows that it shares biometrics, location, profiles, etc.

Don't put your private info into an unknown website. Best way to mine data is to get people to voluntarily enter their information under the guise of seeing if they are being data mined and to make up a response.
