Icon on dash XLT hybrid

A icon on my dash I just noticed and I can’t find in manual. Next to the fuel pump icon there is a circle with a line going thru it. It’s the fuel pump icon on the left. I have a half a tank of gas so it’s not low on fuel.

It means no gas. That’s for total electric miles.

It means no gas. That’s for total electric miles.

Means you are driving in full electric mode, no engine engagement. This will happen when you are coasting, or if accelerator pedal pressure is light AND the left side Power Gauge (Hybrid) is at 10% or below (the first marked line right of 0).

Btw, each mark represents 10% Power usage. On hard acceleration, you can hit 60%+. Obviously, you want to drive where the gauge is 20-25% or below after getting up to speed. Remember, accelerator pedal pressure is used to determine when electric or hybrid is used.

Hybrids drive differently than ICE. The Maverick Hybrid is a great combination of hybrid and plug-in technology/PHEV because the Motor Generator (regen brake) comes on like a PHEV setup, so the battery is being recharged even more than older hybrids.

As soon as you let off of the accelerator (no brake pedal yet), the regen motor slows the vehicle & recharges the battery at the same time. Older hybrids, like my PriusV, does not do that until the brake pedal is applied.
