Since you called it fake engine noise - it sounded like what other models/drive modes do indeed get inside the cabin.
And I'd never heard anyone with a hybrid claim to hear fake engine noise even on a 25MY.

The pre-25MY exterior sound would never be confused with an engine.

Perhaps the 25MY changed that pedestrian sound.
Perhaps some of our 25 drivers that had pre-25 can respond.

As to hearing a motor sound in EV mode when you shift to Drive - I'd hope so, or you aren't going anywhere!
That's what I commented on a post above - that motor sound is usually louder than the pedestrian sound.

As I was slowing to make my turn down the gravel road I live on I noted the low speed warning sound seemed to be noticable around 18mph-ish. Somewhere between 15-20mph is where it sounds like it is making racket.
Perhaps they made it an increasing sound on 25MY now as you get near the cut-off point.
Just like a non-EV would get louder for tire noise as it got faster, until in this case the real tire noise is expected to be loud enough on it's own.

That is about the only time I can hear it while moving, is a quiet road and area so tire noise is heard easily.
And then boom around that 20 I can hear that lack of that sound and just tire noise.
For non-moving - at bank drive thru that has total overhang and I'm next to the wall, so all kinds of sound reflection.

Oh yeah, this would really be annoying at a drive through or something. My wife was like "what's wrong with your new truck"? Me: Nothing, that is just the sound it makes so people know it is there and possibly moving... Her: "oh, that is really annoying, can't you turn that off?!" LOL

You'd think it would turn off when you're completely stopped (like the actual engine does in the EcoBoost trucks). But, no. 🤬

Too funny.

Gov't entity on one hand - we need this sound going even when stopped in D or R, to match normal ICE vehicles.

Gov't entity on the other hand - we'll give an incentive to turn the engine off when stopped in D or R.

Ice will stop when HVB SOC gets to 40%. Remove the 30 minute idle limit and you can take a 1,2,or 3 hr "drive" in your driveway to charge your 12 volt.🤗

Maybe I missed it but haven't seen any mention of the backup beep in the 25 hybrids. Definitely not a fan of that! I'm guessing the EcoBoosts don't have the backup beep?

Beep? A beep would be an upgrade to that sound it makes when backing up! ROFL

Definitely a pulsing beep in mine. Wish there was a way to disable or at least change it. My Corolla Cross hybrid makes a 'spaceship' sound in electric mode but a louder version of it when backing up. It's a lot more tolerable than the Ford beeping, which reminds me of a trash truck backing up, not as loud but almost as annoying.

The sounds are required because of the possible silence in EV mode movement before tire noise is deemed loud enough. Hence no disable.
Therefore the EB's wouldn't need it with engine running for any movement.
Well, except coasting in neutral with engine off down a steep hill. There the driver yelling as he chases after the truck is loud enough to get the attention.

At least one federal agency has mandated sound damping ear protectors--to protect from the safety beepers mandated by another agency!

In the early days of the Macintosh, there was an add-on circulating ("blechh"?) that would make a vomiting sound as it ejected a disk. Cute for a moment, but this was before there were widely circulated tools to remove things that you'd added! (I think that the resource editor was still part of the developer package)
