Before you get alarmed and think I am posting this from the "dark side" let me clarify. Someone decided they wanted to go exactly where I was parked and in the process, did a significant amount of damage to my passenger rear quarter panel. With parts shortages you know how long it took. From the day I filed the claim to the day it was ready, I had to wait almost 7 weeks. Once it was scheduled for the body shop,, Farm Bureau provided a loaner. I had the choice of a Toyota Corolla or a Kia Soul. I sat in the Corolla and thought my rear end was sitting on pavement so I opted for the Soul. I drove it three weeks and lost it Saturday when my Maverick was ready to pick up. Overall, I can say it was not that bad. When I got in it, the rental rep asked for my cell phone. He then paired it and guess what popped up - Apple Car Play. I thoroughly enjoyed the wireless feature and had to order a wireless connector for the Maverick. Installed it after I picked up my Mav and it took every bit of 3 minutes - plug it in and pair it. It is totally hidden out of the way and works perfectly. Got it from Amazon for around $70. So far it works great.

Also, forgot how nice it is to have my Maverick back. I have been in withdrawal for over two months, but did fall off the wagon a few times when my wife would let me use hers.

Guess it was ok to lose my Soul this time.

I have one too. Bought it to drive while waiting for my Mav. I like it but once the Mav arise I will need to…sell my Soul.
Hey, that is better than mine. Just make sure you do not sell it to Devil Auto Group LOL.

I'll take a lot of ribbing for this one, but I had three Souls and still miss them. They are astonishingly efficient city cars with a lot of content for the price. It's anecdotal, but mine were bulletproof over several hundred thousand miles. I especially liked the 164" length, which was so easy to drive. The tech was class above.

That said, they dropped in value like a speeding bullet. And you can't get them in AWD. And they don't have a bed in back. And I suppose they are among the Kias that are subject to that TikTok theft challenge. And the days of a $13,000 Soul are long gone. But I still miss having one for around-town errands.

Used Soul with (normally stored) foldable 4x8 trailer was my plan if my Mav didn't get built. Seems like it would provide similar if not more utility. I had previously rented one and enjoyed it. They are especially cheap now, unless you want full coverage insurance on them as that can cost $200-$300/month due to the Kia boyz issue.

This is my second one. I picked it because the one I had before was reliable. I wasn’t comparing it to the Mav at all, just wanted something I can turn around easily after my Mav arrives. Found a Soul in good shape with low mileage. Will buff it up, detail it and should get back what I paid or more for it.
🤞as long as there’s no issues.

Ah, so you're familiar with South Town Auto Mall? I call those guys the real life Matilda's dad car lot. Every car I asked about had some sort of checkered past. Odd stains and smells, and rust where it shouldn't be on a van that was only a year old. A r35 GTR that was apparently driven so fast the air pressure deformed the front end, and the fact that they wanted to buy our car, and sell it back to us for $1 to somehow help with the loan. Super shady wankers.

My wife has had one for a couple of years and loves it. It's a nearly ideal city driver and as you mention, perhaps the only real flaw is that you can't get it in AWD. Every time I drive it I come away favorably impressed. It has just enough power to merge confidently, tons of room when the back seat is folded down and great visibility.

The driving posture is also good - she has knee problems and can't get into low cars anymore. Between the soul and the mav she has no trouble at all.

I had a 2015 SOUL+ that I bought new. I loved that little car and never had any problems with it. The turning radius was excellent and it did almost everything I needed. I was limited to what I could haul in it and the mileage was only ok for me. The Maverick hybrid has taken care of that minus the great turning radius. It was was a great car though.

I hope you got money from their insurance company for devaluation (loss of resale value) now that there will be a carfax showing an accident.

Scott, I had one that was a company vehicle that I drove about a year. It was a fantastic little machine. I used to leave out each week on Sunday around midnight, drive to El Paso to be there at 10 Monday morning, spend a couple days there, then head to Southern NM, then up to Albuquerque, then back down to Dallas area. Had no complaints at all except a bit ugly, but that is in the eye of the beholder.

Our other car is a 2016 Soul EV. We love it and it is our around-town do almost everything vehicle. It can be seen next to the Mav in my avatar picture.

I got the same Soul, same year, same color. It will also be parked next to a Mav soon but only until it finds a new home
