I guess I won't be joining in on the fun.
Due to the repair shop (Service King)and Geico (insurance company of the kid who pulled in front of me head-on on a highway to get into a walmart....) messing up my F-150, I needed a vehicle to get to work and waiting for my Maverick proved to not really be in the cards.
Tonight, I picked up my 2019 Honda Insight EX. It's genuinely in like new condition inside and out, like shockingly so. Doesnt look like a weird Prius or something, but gets the same 55mpg as one. 1 year warranty on drivetrain and engine, 3 year warranty on the new tires and the wheels (even if accidental like curb rash, nails etc).
Actually found a dealer full of genuine people, not over the top characatures. Was taken care of (unlike the Ford dealership my Mav preorder is at who have made me wait weeks at a time for any response to changes to my order or even basic questions etc). They were there throughout the process of this mess, held the Honda for many days without requiring any money down and promising I could take my time and having right of first refusal as they were sympathetic to what happened to me, gave us a few thousand more than the truck was now worth and even dismissed the one thousand dollar down-payment, making my purchase even cheaper (they did this rather unannounced towards the end of the experience tonight).
I was spending roughly 7050 dollars a year on gas in my f-150. This will take it down to about 2250 dollars a year. Im happy, and relieved my nightmare is over. Havent posted until now about this as I was hoping it would maybe end differently. But here we are.
I'm still fighting Geico on value lost, so its not over. But at least I now have a vehicle in the meantime my wife and I feel safe and happy in, our payment is low, our savings is high, and I have something that can be driven thats not officially effed forever.
For those curious, the shop under geicos authorisation did a repair to my odometer that marked my vehicle as an unverifiable mileage vehicle. Even if repaired (changed my mileage), that'll never go away on sites like Carfax (they won't reverse the decision). And is, due to the repair, in the process of being scrapped and parted out as its near worthless in its current state. (Wasn't the only thing botched....).
Wish I could have been a fellow Mav owner, but it just wasn't something I could wait on. I could have gotten a beater I guess, but I need to save money asap and as a hybrid preorder I doubt I had good chances of getting it within a year, anyway.
If fortunes change. You never know. I'll likely still post and hang out for a bit. Regardless, enjoy your future trucks fellow MR2023s! Cue "k bye" responses, though I hope everyone understands.
