I guess I won't be joining in on the fun.

Due to the repair shop (Service King)and Geico (insurance company of the kid who pulled in front of me head-on on a highway to get into a walmart....) messing up my F-150, I needed a vehicle to get to work and waiting for my Maverick proved to not really be in the cards.

Tonight, I picked up my 2019 Honda Insight EX. It's genuinely in like new condition inside and out, like shockingly so. Doesnt look like a weird Prius or something, but gets the same 55mpg as one. 1 year warranty on drivetrain and engine, 3 year warranty on the new tires and the wheels (even if accidental like curb rash, nails etc).

Actually found a dealer full of genuine people, not over the top characatures. Was taken care of (unlike the Ford dealership my Mav preorder is at who have made me wait weeks at a time for any response to changes to my order or even basic questions etc). They were there throughout the process of this mess, held the Honda for many days without requiring any money down and promising I could take my time and having right of first refusal as they were sympathetic to what happened to me, gave us a few thousand more than the truck was now worth and even dismissed the one thousand dollar down-payment, making my purchase even cheaper (they did this rather unannounced towards the end of the experience tonight).

I was spending roughly 7050 dollars a year on gas in my f-150. This will take it down to about 2250 dollars a year. Im happy, and relieved my nightmare is over. Havent posted until now about this as I was hoping it would maybe end differently. But here we are.

I'm still fighting Geico on value lost, so its not over. But at least I now have a vehicle in the meantime my wife and I feel safe and happy in, our payment is low, our savings is high, and I have something that can be driven thats not officially effed forever.

For those curious, the shop under geicos authorisation did a repair to my odometer that marked my vehicle as an unverifiable mileage vehicle. Even if repaired (changed my mileage), that'll never go away on sites like Carfax (they won't reverse the decision). And is, due to the repair, in the process of being scrapped and parted out as its near worthless in its current state. (Wasn't the only thing botched....).

Wish I could have been a fellow Mav owner, but it just wasn't something I could wait on. I could have gotten a beater I guess, but I need to save money asap and as a hybrid preorder I doubt I had good chances of getting it within a year, anyway.

If fortunes change. You never know. I'll likely still post and hang out for a bit. Regardless, enjoy your future trucks fellow MR2023s! Cue "k bye" responses, though I hope everyone understands.

Always thought the first gen Insight was hideous with the body wrapping around the back wheel, so glad they changed that. Now just looks like a mini accord.

Fight your fight with the insurance but be wise enough to know when to walk away, your stress over the situation has value too. Enjoy the gas savings and live your life!

No worries, this generation of Insight is a great car. I was about to pull the plug on my Maverick order and just buy a Corolla Hybrid instead. All in all, I would been satisfied with that purchase . Also agree with Brown0”, fight the insurance company but keep your stress levels in check. Easier said than done.

Interesting situation. Glad you got something you can be happy with, sounds like a smart play.

As for the other issue, wish you best of luck. I'm curious if you chose the shop that was one of the approved ones, or insurance chose that specific shop? I guess I mean did insurance handle the entire process or were they just weighing in and paying out? That may factor on if you have cause with insurance or the shop itself for the lost value.
