I got my first dent I was hauling some rocks in the bed and had to slam on the brakes. One rock hit the front of the bed. Is that panel a double wall?

Tilt the rear seat back forward and you will see how the unibody truck is constructed.

Always try to haul heavy things, a big rock, fridge, etc. in the front of the bed, towards the cabin. That way they're already against that wall If you have to slam on the brakes. Also secure the load with tie downs and/or netting of some sort.

A drop in bed liner would have also kept that from happening.

You’re lucky it was in the bed. Got my first dent courtesy of a jerk in a parking lot after having the new truck for just a month — a visible crease on the exterior of the bed above the wheel well. Life trucks on!

A "Friend" installed my "First Dent" (in the bed), while helping HIM load a metal cabinet.
I had a blanket to slide it on... but he couldn't wait...

I got my "Official First Ding", yes there is a difference..
Parked at the end of the lot. September of last year..
Another, thousandth of an inch deeper and It would have broken that paint..
I have been fortunate!, nothing to report since.
