Considering the relatively high coefficient of drag that pickups have vs. cars, I wouldn't think the Maverick Hybrid would be able to go much faster than 80 mph. Maybe 85- 90 mph? Perhaps 95 mph for the Ecoboost? That's my guess. 60 mph is good enough for me.

Agree with you, 70 tops. Some states STILL have laws that it is mandatory to suspend your license if you are 15mph over nearest posted speed limit while on rural state or interstate roads..... Who needs the accompanying aggravation??!!!

I had a 2018 Focus ST on which I installed the Ford Performance Calibration (Ford’s warrantied tune).
I shall neither confirm nor deny achieving 150 MPH on a lonely highway in Nevada. ;)
Regarding 0-60 time, I expect that an AWD Maverick will actually be quicker than an ST simply because of superior traction. The ST was more than eager to spin the front tires and a fast launch was somewhat challenging to achieve. Also, automatics shift faster than most people can shift a manual.
Some people got the Focus ST's to do 0-60 mph in as low as 5.9 secs, but about 6.3 was average. I think the 2015 to 2018 might have been a bit quicker becuse I believe that is when they switched to a twin scroll turbo. As far as top speed, there is a POV video some years ago where a guy took his 2017 St on the autobahn. Top speed was 152 mph.

I had a 2012 SE with the 2.0L non turbo and DCT. 0-60 mph in 7.6 secs and speed limiter at 121 mph. Decent power and good fuel economy...... I could get 39 mpg on the interstate as long as I didn't get too aggressive on the throttle. If Ford would have sold the Mk4 here in the states, that is what I would be driving now.

I had a 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid and just traded it for a 2021 Lexus ES300h (hybrid). BOTH vehicles have a 2.5l engine. I think the difference may be the HP. The Toyota and Lexus have 215-system-hp, 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder and electric motor with continuously variable automatic. Both weigh in at 3,700 lbs and both are 195" long. So I believe they are fairly similar to the Maverick.

I have NO problem going 80+ MPH for long distances, especially on the Interstate. Your MPG will suffer but you can do the speed no problem. What the Maverick can do in still an unknown as NO one except the mannequin drivers have been allowed to drive it.
I slipped a mannequin a bitcoin and found out the new Maverick will run comfortably at 80+++ I am guessing they are governed at 105-115mph

You would be the source of my aggravation in an 85 MPH zone going less than 70.

YouTube video of Hybrid Speedometer during 0-110 MPH run. It's limited to that speed, and I believe I've read the Eco Boost is limited to 115 or possibly 120 MPH. So I'd say the hybrid can handle 80 plus speeds very comfortably. I wouldn't know myself, because I rarely drive over 70. Hey, don't hate me because I'm sensible. 😉

My guess is probably. But I didn't know they had an autobahn in the Lakeland Florida area now.... ;)
All of I-4 is a sh*tshow of bad driving skills, whether its speeding, weaving in and out of traffic at excessive speeds, driving too slow in the left lane, texting while driving, you name it. It is truly a rare moment when I can drive from the east coast (Daytona) to the west coast on I-4 (Tampa area) without getting stuck in traffic or vowing to never drive the road again and take the longer route just to avoid what I know I'll inevitably encounter.

Any native St. Petersburg folks on this forum? Remember when the Howard Franklin bridge was two lanes in either direction? Seems like Tampa has been in a state of "remodeling" since I originally left the area in 1990. "Back in the good ol' days" I can remember driving with my mom from Tampa over to St. Augustine, and it was nothing but farms and maybe the occasional industrial building cropping up.

It was a sad day when the Merita Bread sign was taken down.

Also pissed they took out all of the buried Streamline RVs. Progress, eh?

Don't know why some people are talking like a hybrid would have trouble doing 80 mph. Even your most basic economy car can do 80 mph. The hybrid Maverick will have no problem cruising at 80 mph easily if the driver wants to.

I live in Texas and drive 85mph on the highway all the time, truck has plenty of power and can easily pass at that speed, on the down side my hybrid gets poor MPG at that speed.

The reason to get the hybrid was price and MPG, driving at speeds like that defeats the purpose

Tell that to Toyota Prius drivers. They are always speeding on the highway it seems, like they are trying to prove to everyone that thier hybrids really aren't slow. 🤓

I get it, I wanted to merge over in my M5 the other day and Prius driver sped up... Kick down one gear is all it takes ;)
