Good call, the new Canyon/Colorado looks awesome. I think he 2.7 is capable of the same fuel economy and obviously a WAY more capable truck. I think the Mav sweet spot is a xl hybrid, I’m averaging 46 mpg after 6k miles and paid MSRP, cheap enough to keep my built Montero for real 4 wheeling trips.

So, you have to get at least $45,600 to break even?

There's a holding cost letting the dealer keep your deposit. It's months that money isn't sitting in your account drawing interest. Your Tremor at $42k means you have allot of stuff on it.... things that might be constrained that might make for a later delivery.

You're banking on the demand staying high after you receive yours, even after they increase deliveries by starting that 3rd shift in HMO and start taking orders for MY2024 in Aug/Sept.

I sense that Maverick demand peaked some months ago.... It's high, but it's off from it's peak. Demand will remain somewhat high, but will you sell yours for enough above $45,600 to offset the dealer holding your money for all of those months?
Was your Deposit over the standard $500. Even with interest rates going up, most savings accounts aren't paying didley. So while your comment bout earning interest in your own account is technically valid, the amount of interest you would actually be missing out on is less than peanuts.

Mine was $39k MSRP, and I find it an incredible value. Good luck finding a truck with these features for close.
Could not agree more... My Lariat Tremor was also $39K and its loaded with value for me.

yeah I conceded in a follow-up post tht holding cost was a weak arguement....

That's a pretty nice truck.

I was looking at a higher end Maverick for quite a while but there are many good midsize trucks becoming available this year.

This includes the New GMC Canyon, New Ford Ranger, New Toyota Tacoma and even the somewhat New Chevy Colorado.

I believe there will be many more people making this kind of switch if they can afford it.
The GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado are one in the same - both are new for 2023.

The GMC/Chevy twins are really nice. To me they are currently the best looking inside and out.

My question is I think the GM twins are wider but is there more interior room legroom wise than the Maverick? I've been trying to watch some of the youtube reviewers that I know have been in those and the Maverick but have not seen a comparison and no one has addressed my question. So I am pretty curious about this.

MPG is a factor for me as a drive a lot, towing not so much so I don't think I would be end up going the GM twins way because of MPG's but curious about the room comparison and then with the Tacoma coming out I am curious what it will be like as well compared to Maverick for room and MPG
No additional rear seat leg room, we're talking an additional .25".

Rear hip room grows less than 2".

MPGs are abysmal. The Colorado TB weighs more than a Silverado 1500 LT with 2.7L engine.

Likely won't be purchasing my Colorado Trail Boss order.

I’m a mechanic and I waited 13 months for my Maverick, I get waiting sucks but you bought a GM , The worst vehicles on the planet are GM/Chevy , I make all my money on them and refuse to own one because I love my weekends free, I currently own a 2003 Ford Escape 220k on it , A 2017 Ford Escape 2.0L , and my Maverick. I hope you bought an extended warranty. Not a good decision. Maybe there’s a GMC Canyon website where people bitch about the turd they bought you can join. Peace out.
Sounds like you've got really polished customer service skills in your shop too!

Yeah I didn’t read the 3 pages of bitching .
Of course not!

I agree with the advice to leave it open. I also wouldn't communicate your current intentions with you dealer as they will prepare to sell it to another customer. The truck is likely to be worth more than the price you can buy it for (If your dealer is an msrp dealer) so why cut your options at this time. Good luck either way!

After placing my Tremor order back in September, and getting no positive indication that I’ll ever receive my truck, I’ve decided to move on. I have very little confidence that I’l receive one as my dealer is on the smaller size and they have not be transparent with any upcoming allocations. I’m also tired of the drama of waiting for emails every Thursday to see if I’ve been selected.

I’ve ordered a GMC Canyon AT4 and hope I fare better with receiving one. I realize this is a completely difference class of truck, but the way I configured my Tremor (~$42k) it made sense to me to get a more capable truck (towing capacity and interior room/comfort) even with the extra cost.

Now the question is, what to do with my Tremor order? I’m thinking of leaving it open, and hope to get scheduled, and then figure something out. What do y’all think I should do with the open order?

Yea, this waiting is getting old, and I’m not getting any younger.

Yeah, the MPGs are absolutely abysmal. I thought that'd be the case when they were quiet around the launch.

I'm sticking with my Maverick for three reasons:

1. MPG.
2. Cost, especially the 0% interest for 36 months.
3. The dealers around me wanting a $2500 nonrefundable deposit for the Colorado.

I think when compared to a Ridgeline, it makes sense to buy a Maverick. But I'm not sure I'd drop 42k on a Maverick vs a "real" truck with significantly more capability and, likely, better fit and finish. The Lariat offers very little improvements on the interior vs a 21k XL.
Not sure about that. Fully loaded maverick vs ridgeline, ridgeline would win IMO, unless you value a really small truck over everything else.

I'm on the fence of do I accept delivery on a $28k maverick or drop another $12k for a ridgeline and have a better family car with more room, leather, and honda reliability. IMO there's no way a maverick is worth $40k, and at just under $30k it sort of makes sense.

And a third option at $40k would be to go with a basic full size truck with some hard negotiation.

Well...I believe the Ridgeline starts at 39k with cloth seats and gets worse mileage. Yes, it'll likely be more reliable, but it also feels dated inside. But I agree, at the top end, the Maverick isn't that great of a deal, especially after the price increases.
