They said it was "grounded out" it didn't happen again.
Odd indeed. I experienced the issue again last night, and when I turned the switch off and then back on, it worked. It's quite peculiar that toggling the switch resolves the problem. In my opinion, this doesn't sound like a grounding issue.

I have the same problem going on, When it acts up, the whole right rear lamp assembly is out. No brake light, no back up, no nothing. Dealer picked it up the other day, checked it and said a couple of pins in the harness connector were not making a good connection. (or so they thought)
It acted up today again and I called to make another appointment. I will try turning the light switch on and off. It seems so random when it works and quits.

The dealer did do the software update several weeks ago.

It's intriguing that my brake light and turn signal continue to function while yours do not. My bulbs are LASFits, so a harness issue seems possible, but it's entirely odd I still have some function, even when the main light does not function. Now I'm curious how long this issue has persisted since I picked up my order in June of 2023.

I have a 2023 Lariat Hybrid and I've been having the same issue with the taillights. I should have posted this previously but I was angry with having yet another issue with the truck and I didn't want to post an angry response.

About a month ago I was leaving the house at night and my wife was outside with the dog. She called me as I drove away and asked if I knew that my lights weren't on. I looked at the headlight dial and it was on auto and the headlight indicator was on. So I got out of the truck and sure enough the taillights were not on. As others in this thread have reported I was able to get them to turn on by turning the headlight switch dial to "On" and then back to "Auto". Since then I make a habit of checking the taillights at night before driving away. Sometimes both don't come on and sometimes only the passenger taillight dose not come on and sometimes they are both on and working normal.

I had the truck at the dealership about 3 weeks ago for the turn signal recall and of course they said they could not duplicate the problem. So, last Wednesday I took a video of it of it on my phone. Then on Thursday the passenger taillight didn't come on so I drove straight to the dealership and showed them the issue and what happens. I also e-mailed them the video on my phone. The service advisor also ran codes from the OBDII port and it did have two codes saying that the taillights were not performing properly. One was from the day before and one was from the day I was there.

I'm guessing they never even looked at it for that issue when it was there for the recall because why wouldn't it have thrown similar codes then since this has been happening for at least a month?

So the truck is back at the dealership today so they can hopefully finally fix this issue. I get that defects happen but I'm angry because I feel like they didn't even try to fix this issue the first time it was there. When I stopped by the dealership last Thursday I told them that is a safety issue and I'm not waiting several weeks for an appointment, especially since the truck was just there and they just gave me the unable to duplicate the problem nonsense. I'll report back with what happens today.

Factory bulbs or LASFits? I just received the new rear replacement bulbs from LASFit. Originally wouldn't be in stock until April. Wonder if they saw my original post LOL

On a side note, I do have the Lasfit bulb upgrade as well as diodes for towing lights when towing behind an RV. It may be possible that diodes could go bad?
I doubt it's the bulbs, although the dealer would probably say it was. My Mustang does this sometimes too, and they are factory LED.

The dealership called late this afternoon and said they could not duplicate the problem. Just as my blood started to boil the tech went on to say that he saw the video that I e-mailed of the issue and he has the codes that were run when I stopped by the dealership the other day. So long story short they are going to replace the BCM and they believe that will solve the problem. He had to order it and he said someone will call me in the morning to let me know how long it will take them to bet a new BCM.

The dealer ended up replacing my rear light wiring harness.... (the small one that is attached to the tail light assembly). It had a short in it they told me.
I thought it was a bad ground, I crawled underneath and had my son watch while I moved the harness where it is grounded to the frame.. and it all went back to working. It must have moved it a little where it connects to the tail light harness.
I is all working as it should be now. I will say the first loaner they gave me was a Edge ST-Line and I do have to say that is a very nice car. The second one was a Escape, nice also........ I got to sample some Ford vehicles. A change for having Hondas for the last 20 plus years. I did take notice.

All in all the service experience was excellent, they came and picked it up from my work, left me the loaner.
