I recently noticed the same issue on my '22 Maverick Hybrid. It is also on the passenger side. Both times I noticed it, I had remote started the vehicle through the FordPass app. I drove it to the dealership yesterday with the light still out when I drove it in their garage. Of course, when they looked at it later, it was working! No codes set either. I'll monitor this thread and reply if and when I find anything out.

From the previous post, someone indicated that turning the light switch off and back on gets the light to come on. If that is consistent with all other occurrences, that sounds to me like a software glitch in the body control module.
Hi there – send a message to us with your VIN and approximate mileage, along with some more details about your situation. I’ll look into this for you. Thanks!

KJ86, let me know if that works, I will try as well. It's good to know that you have the stock bulbs! Thank you!

Hi Cruzer01. I still have the original bulbs. It looks like several posts indicate turning the knob off and on cures the problem for a while. To me, that kind of eliminates connector/bulb issues as a cause. I'm thinking it's a software glitch. If the dealership can't fix mine, I'm going to try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. These lights are electronically controlled by a "body control module" that is always powered. Sometimes glitches like this happen, and disconnecting power forces a full reset of this module. I once had a map light stuck on in an Edge that I owned. Cycling the battery power fixed it.
KJ86, I disconnected my battery, left it off for about 30 minutes. It looked promising at first. The light worked for at least 6 unlocking/starts then it failed again. The passenger tail light stopped working. A turn of the light knob gets it back on. Any update on yours?

Cruzer01, since my Maverick came back from the dealership, I haven’t been able to get the problem to reappear. I’ve only driven it a few times though. I’ll post once I can get it to act up again or if I find any new information.

Had my '23 EB XLT Passenger Tail Light have this issue. I was able to replicate it twice and got it on video with the taillight "Dead," and a switching from Auto to Manual Headlights Fixing it. Couldnt get it to go dead again after.

I am running LEDs from LastFit.

Did some Digging, apparently there might be a TSB out regarding a Faulty BCM? Any Updates?

Id really like get some Help from Ford/Local Dealership but being my primary means of transportation, I need to go in with some additional knowledge to circumvent the whole "unable to replicate" BS. This coming from a Prior Ford Service Advisor.

Is there a known issue for the 2023 Platform? I’ve had this happen twice and just happened on my commute to work tonight. Auto-Headlights set ‘on,’ on a 2023 Maverick XLT. 2.0L AWD - 1994.4miles, and just got out of the truck on suspicion after my drive. Sure enough Passenger Rear Light was out. Truck was still running. I walked back into the cabin, switched it from auto to manual headlights and back, and it turned on just fine. I have video of the incident, but obviously this is an intermittent issue. Is this something I will get help with immediately or will they have to replicate at the dealer and have to play that game where it doesn’t happen even if this is clearly a video’s safety concern? I say this as a former service advisor for Ford for many years I would not like to waste time and just drop my truck off and have the BCM replaced as apparently, that is the issue, if you and Scour the Internet and look at various posts elsewhere.

Took my 22 Maverick hybrid in today for that intermittent tail light issue will keep you all posted see what they say I was able to replicate the problem in front of them with the service manager present so I am hoping that this will help resolve the problem and ford.com has opened a case for me on this issue from posting on this forum hope they can help the dealer figure this out we'll keep everyone posted.

Update on my intermittent tail light issue. Received my truck back from Ford today. Essentially the dealer stated that the problem was caused by the LED light bulbs I had installed. The dealer had asked me to replace the LEDs with the originals and return it back to stock which I did. I also had tow light diodes installed for tow lights and had to take it back to have them removed and returned to stock. After this the dealer could not reproduce the problem and said that the mods/ LEDs were the problem that caused the intermittent twilight outage. They performed software updates for grabbing breaks as well. Only time will tell if the tail light goes out again. Will update this post in a week or two.

Steveob83,
I told the technician that there are others on the forum with no mods having the same issue but it made no difference to him. Thanks for your reply. Did you ever find out the cause of your tail light outage?

Nope, I just had someone tell me that was behind me 1 time about it exactly seven days after I got it, turned the auto beams off and back on and they worked again. Idk if it ever happened again after that one time, but if I ever have drinks, i'm sure to turn them off and on before I drive home..

I have got into the habit of turning my light knob to off every time I get out and park so I can see the tail lights. Turning the knob to off so the lights will work when I get back in. I will take it back to Ford the 1st time it occurs again.

I took my truck for the rear taillight issue and they said there were codes that it happened 3 times. They said the filament for the bulb was loose and probably shorting out, so they replaced the bulb. Doesn't sound like the right fix if other people are having the same issue too with only the passenger side tail light and the off and on trick works, but we'll see I guess...

On a side note, I do have the Lasfit bulb upgrade as well as diodes for towing lights when towing behind an RV. It may be possible that diodes could go bad?
Did you splice the wires for diodes?
