I've seen E15 sometimes sold as "88 octane" with a blue button or handle. Maybe the 89 with ethanol is E15?
In Oklahoma 87, 89, and 91 octane fuel is generally sold either E10 or, sometimes for 87 and 91, available 100% gas. I see that grain states often advertise Unleaded 88 (which is E15). I see this when watching the Big 10 network.

I had a lot of collector cars and small engines. Also have a 300 gallon gravity feed fuel tank. Other than the gas from the dealer, my ‘26 Lariat hybrid has had no other fuel than non ethanol. Dash shows 44.8 MPG. Full disclosure; my wife’s 2020 Pacifica had to have the entire fuel system cleaned due to the use of non ethanol. Read the owner’s. Manual several times and I can’t see any warning not to use non ethanol. Ethanol is death on small engines and outboards.

It's more correct to say ethanol fuel is such a good solvent it loosens and removes lots of junk in dirty older engines. This can have an ill effect with all the years of crud coming loose in a short time

Ethanol will help keep a clean engine clean.

It's not "death" to all small engines.
I have a 1941 2-stroke farm engine.
Runs fine on 10% ethanol.
I have a year ~ 2005 Honda 6hp lawn mower. Been fine on 10% ethanol for 20 years with zero maintenance.

I think my 2019-2020(?) toro super bronco 50 24hp kohler powered with 547.4 hours ran on up to 10% ethanol 87 octane is doing pretty good. Have replaced starter motor due to solenoid sticking resulting in armature shaft snapping. Changed fuel filter at about 500 hours. Put 1.5-2oz lucas fuel treatment per 5 gal gas as it keeps water emulsified therefore not clogging fuel filter as well as keeping carb + clean. Mow around 2 acres of yard grass plus up to 30" tall weeds etc in pasture. Am still running original spark plugs never have adjusted valves so about 8-10 times behind on that. Oil leaking maybe gaskets, plus some blowby smoking if I let air filter clog up. Lucas in fuel apparently keeps plugs clean enough. See pics, been mowing pasture, haven't cleaned deck yet. On third set of spindles and 7th set of blades due to rocks in pasture.
