Ford Motor Company issued a recall this week for select Maverick hybrid pickup trucks from the 2022 and 2023 model years due to electronic issues with the truck’s gauge cluster. The automaker states that as many as 62,813 Mavericks in the United States are set to be impacted by the recall notice.

According to the NHTSA filing from the automaker, these select Maverick hybrid models may contain an instrument cluster binnacle that does not illuminate key readouts like the speedometer or vehicle warning lights. This is not only an annoying and challenging situation for the impacted owners, it also goes against a series of NHTSA’s Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

Ford says the issue is the result of some faulty software, specifically rapid CAN signals bouncing the truck between its Sleep and Awake modes. This error can cause the truck’s internal memory registers to be corrupted, ultimately preventing the cluster from illuminating as intended. The issue was initially discovered after 167 trucks came in for warranty claims related to the cluster, which were analyzed by the production team at the automaker’s Hermosillo plant in Mexico.

Beautiful. Already got myself an appointment to see the dreadful dealership tomorrow. I hope all they do is this recall and not bother me about my aftermarket stereo upgrade.

Hopefully this can be resolved by mobile service rather than visiting the dealer. That's never a fun experience.

I am 16 minutes away from the dealership. The time/distance is 15 minutes. Oh well.

My dealer picked up my Mav to do two recalls today. When they brought it back the dashcam wasn't working. Thankfully removing and plugging back in the add a fuses fixed the problem.

This has already been out for several days. A lot of us already got our recall. It sounds like a simple update and it’s fixed.

I am glad that I have waited. Now I can make one appointment and get all done at hopefully one time. The last time I was at the dealer I was shocked at how long it takes for repairs on the hybrids.
I had this naive idea that an oil change and software update could be done at the same time. It seems that the Maverick Hybrid ties up a lot of shop time for the techs.

It is! I called the local dealer who told me there were actually two software recalls. One was the turn signal bulb error, and the other was the instrument panel illumination issue. They sent a tech to my house, and it took him 30-minutes or less to do the software reprogram at no cost to me. I was very happy with the service, but of course, had never seen any issue effected by these recalls.

Got it done this morning. Took just a little over an hour. I didn't care how long it was going to take as long as it got done. Excellent service this time. Excellent communication this time.

You're lucky. As you probably know, the turn signal recall played havoc on those of us with Lasfit LED bulbs. Not all dealers are offering mobile service and when I call to see if they do, not even their employees know. Anyway, glad you had a satisfactory experience. It's how it should be.

I would call the dealer and not so much as complain but point out how this is not good customer service. The dealers have a director of customer satisfaction (or similar title). When I picked up my truck from a recall the rear seat was up and the 12v battery cover left off. Texted my service rep and politely pointed out their lack of service. Got a call from their director of customer satisfaction and she was very apologetic and insisted on compensating me in any way. I was impressed.
