Hybrid Maverick Modifications?

Hey everyone! New here. I plan on pulling the trigger and purchasing an Alto Blue Hybrid! I plan on throwing some 20’s on there and maybe even lower it 3-4 inches (big maybe). I was wondering, what other modifications can you do to a hybrid lol? I’ve never owned a hybrid so idk how it works. Can you tune it? Exhaust? Cold Air Intake? Basically anything that can give me more hp and more power overall haha. Thanks!

Pretty much nothing concerning the gas engine. It's a Hybrid!! Part of the time it's running on gas, gas-electric, or just electric. It will flip back and forth from one to another as fast as you can blink. I live in an area where there are lots of small hills. Went to the store this morning and was watching the performance on the dash switching from Electric only to gas and elector and even regenerate during the down hills.

There will be lots of times (you hope) that it will be running on the electric motor and your gas motor will be just sitting there looking pretty.

You are correct. I am hoping to push highway to around 35 mpgs. If I can spend around a grand on those the the cost difference should pay me back on one trip with the way gas prices are going.

If it's 38 Highway, why do you want to push it to 35 ??? Just wondering.

Read the fine print on 'lifetime warranty."

The warranty requires documentation that all recommended maintenance be performed within the prescribed mileage and/or time according to the manufacturer using manufacturer or equivalent parts. Keep every dated receipt.

If you are one mile or one day over on a covered part that fails, they will not honor the warranty.

At $4 a gallon for fuel the difference between 30 and 35 mpg for 10,000 miles is a savings of $188.

It will be over 53,000 miles before you break even on your $1000 "investment" for better economy.

If fuel cost is under $4 a gallon and factoring in the future value of the dollar, you are more realistically looking at 60,000+ miles for the break even point.

Car manufacturers have the power/mileage formula figured out. I find that simple bolt-on"s do not make a significant difference in power or economy. Modifications also lower the resale value of a vehicle, sometimes drastically.

I agree that if you want the power, buy an ecoboost.

My Bad. You're right.

It is Post #9 that is wrong then as I assumed he was correct. @Rob Cactus Gray said Highway was 38 MPG when it should have been 33 MPG. Combined is 37 MPG. No 38 anywhere.

I was referring to with upgrades that @STARCOMMTREY1 was talking about. And it is a hopeful number as I said it “would be awesome”. Than @STARCOMMTREY1 said he was hoping for 35 so my goal seems out of reach.

Lowering and adding the front skidplate will help with aerodynamics and the lightest tire-wheel combo will net you better performance and fuel economy. A good cat-back exhaust when available will help also.

No I could be wrong but didn't ford announce that ALL hybrid pre-orders for the 22 model had been sold or was that the EB

Also FYI my xlt 2.0l EB is getting about 30mpg. First 500 miles it was about 27-28mpg but has rolled up to 30. I'm getting around 390miles worth before I have to fill it. So hopefully they aimed low o. The Hybrids est. Economy too.

I would bet that Ford has done the best that can be done regarding air intake and exhaust on this given their fuel efficiency goals. Aftermarket is not always better.

What is your reasoning for getting a hybrid but then pursuing modding to create a situation where you lessen the mpg benefits? Why not ecoboost?

Also I hope you’re not too late to get an order in before ModelYear 2022 is sold out for hybrids.

I get horrible gas mileage rn and need a hybrid 110%. Now I would like to get some more power out of it, if I could which I guess I can’t.

Have you considered bagging the truck? Lowering for highway driving and then raise it back up for normal or winter driving.
Match that with some good LRR tires you might yield better results than tinkering with the intake/exhaust. This just conjecture though as I’ve never owned an atkinson powered vehicle before.

I live in LA. So all highway driving, no winter driving lmao.

Sounds good haha. What skid plate is available? How light is light? Yeah I can’t wait for the exhausts! I want to see what they’ll sound like LOL

I will defiantly switch to a K&N and a muffler for the right sound. I need to study when the engine and motor work with each other. Anyone know where to find that info in fine detail. I’m sure someone can make a dual tune setup for 87 that’s similar to stock or switch on the fly to 91/93 octane tune for a little boost in power and maybe combine both power plants to run together more often for more power.
