A friend of mine suggested we take our weapons out to the range to practice. We live just south of Las Vegas so we took our weapons 8 miles out into the desert to a BLM outdoor range. Well while we were there the temperature was 109' and my Hybrid XLT Mav was locked up in the sun for 2 hours. I set the fan on 4 and the Temp on 70', we had to keep the windows up because of driving on a dirt road but it only took about 2 minutes for the Mav to be very comfortable. I didn't even realize there is a MAX setting for the AC.

Yep, I have been really impressed with my hybrid Maverick's AC. Cools down really quick and holds temp on auto perfectly.

Did you guys do any shooting from the bed? I was wondering how well I would fit back there for prone shooting if I put a pad down.

I'm also here in Henderson, so glad the AC works well, the car I just replaced with the Mav was having AC issues and you know how surviving our Vegas summers are.

Have you noticed any change with your MPGs with our weather? I just picked up my lariat hybrid two weeks ago. I use the EV coach and Eco mode and mpg has been really inconsistent as I get used to it. My commute to work is just couple miles so it doesn't do super great on the real short trips. I'm light on the gas and the brakes and try to get electric mode miles, but we did better mileage when we drove it down to Havasu last weekend.

What settings do you have the A/C set to when using remote start to cool the pickup on the 103+ days. I use the remote start on my Hybrid but the interior is HOT when I get in and there is still hot air at the vents. I takes a mile or two to find joy.

Unless they're Oompa Loompa's, I imagine pretty uncomfortable. The bed is only 4 1/2 feet. I was seriously thinking about getting a camper so I could sleep but I don't think I'll fit haha.

It's absolutely the best A/C of any vehicle I have owned in a long time. I remote start 10 minutes before I'm about to leave and it runs on low but get's it comfortable. I'm not one to complain but the air coming out of the vents is almost too cold.

This is the only vehicle I’ve ever had where I can set the temp to 72-73, even 75 sometimes, and still be comfy when it’s 90+ outside. Very, very fast cooling.

I fully concur being in Louisiana it gets mighty hot and humid. AC will cool off my Shadow Black in a few short minutes especially if you put it on Max Cool. Ford knocked this AC out of the park.

One silly issue is that the tailgate is not co-planar with the bed, it slopes down a little. But if that won't affect you then you have to consider the full length from bed to tip of tailgate is 6'7". Depending on your height and where you place your support that could be a problem if your support needs to be further forward.

Does anyone ride in the rear seats with this hot weather? With no vents back there am curious what to expect on hot days for rear passengers.

No, we did not. When you shoot prone you hold the weapon out in front of you, even with the tail gate it might not be long enough.

In the past few weeks I have only had people in the front seats.
