How to make sure no dealer installed options?

Hi all, I'm supposed to take delivery in about a week, being shipped now. How do I make sure the dealer doesn't sneak in some dealer installed options? I already put down a $500 deposit when I ordered, is there anything more I should do?

Do you have a signed form of your out the door price,
From when you ordered it? Hopefully you do. If not you can request items to be removed like nitrogen, vin etching, dent repair, oil changes...hopefully you know your otd price.

Making sure your dealer is not going to try to take advantage of you is something you should have done when ordering the truck. It is honestly too late for you to do much. What you might be able to do is call the dealer and let them know your concern and try to get the out the door price breakdown. Good luck.

I hear of so many people just blindly ordering cars and trucks of all makes and models without getting a price up front in writing. Dealers just love this sort of customer because it gives them the freedom to charge whatever they want. After someone waited for a long time for the car to be built they will be upset about having to pay a few grand extra for window tinting and paint sealer but they will pay it instead of starting the process over again and loosing their deposit.

On another front after you have your Maverick, you may want to ask what the price is for the dealer to service your truck before they service your truck. The dealer's service department just love folks that drop off a truck and say service it without asking how much it costs and they get to charge whatever they want and add in things that may not be needed.

Like others have said. A COVP order preview should have been sent to you for a signature and a deposit. Hopefully you have it as that was the agreed upon purchase. My dealer asked if I wanted any installed options and the only thing I took was the keypad. And its on the order preview.

I had the email address for the salesperson and the sales manager. I emailed both of them about a week before it was due to be delivered and told them I was not authorizing any dealer add-ons. When I got notification from Ford that it had been delivered I emailed them second time. They honored my request.

You were very lucky. The stealership is under no obligation to honor that.

You need to get on the phone with your sales guy and communicate now that you do not want any DIO or add ons to your Maverick, and unless you're financing through the dealership, as for your OTD price so you can shore up your financing and/or funds before the vehicle arrives to expediate the process.

In the end though - the dealer can add what they want.

True but I printed them out and took them with me. I didn't need them because they did not add anything. Mullinax is a good dealership

Having an honest dealer you know and can trust to not add any crap to the OTD price is the key to a stress-free order experience. If you don't know of one, IMO, it's one of the most important things to research before placing a vehicle order.

thanks for all the input, trying to do all these with the sales mgr before it arrives.

I have a signed form with "no dealers options added" write-in when i placed the order, i am using this now.

If you know the price you were quoted, and have the sheet with everything listed at the time of order, compare the spec sheet of the one delivered, and they get to explain every detail of any price change.

If they put additional options, and charge you, then say no.

If they unlikely put more options and don't charge you the difference (would totally be their mistake (quietly take it and run). Most car sales don't have ethics, so what a previous boss told me, situational ethics apply.
