I always carry an impactAfter fighting the hundred strokes of the scissor lift my plan is to carry a power tool.
Not on this truck! You have to lower the spare (a lot) to get it out to where you can undo the cable and associated cones to free the tire. I had to really unwind my spare and drag it out from under the bed to get the cable off. Thankfully it was in a parking lot in the day time. I could only imagine what a PIA it would be in bad weather and at night. You may want to practice doing it in the day, on a nice day and see what you are up against.it usually takes me about 3-5 minutes to change a tire depending on how easy it is to remove the spare. why would it take 10 minutes to be removed? from being exposed to the elements and rusting threaded mounts? looks to me like any standard truck spare mount
that makes sense! i always carry an impact with me anyway so shouldn't be too bad! thanks! Not on this truck! After my flat, I added a 1/2 inch wratchet and socket (same size as the wheel lug) to speed up the job. The tools in the spare kit do the job, but it isnt very fast or convenient.
I have had this one for about 30 years now. Mostly have used it to do the Oil Changes (have had very few flats, over the years Lucky me!) on my Rangers.
Sears model# = Companion 2-ton #9-50181
They are called, "Compact Trolley" jacks now.
Have seen this same design only in different colors (depends on who's selling it).
Just did a google search, cost is between $40 - $75.
Again, on who is selling it...

Yeah for a big jack bed mount I was thinking take a 2x8 cut it to fit the wheel well slots in the front of the bed. Roll ye jack up in there with the handle to the front. Take a piece of cardboard and fit a tight cut out pattern around the jack body. The replicate that on the 2x6. A tight fit on everything oughta lock it in place pretty nicely. A safety nanny could sort out a bolt or pin or something for it to keep it down. Also could screw a second board across the top to reinforce it since its a cut piece. Angle aluminum could work as well. Or just put it under the rear seat with a piece of old carpet underneath to protect the cubby and be used as roadside knee pad.yes i agree. i was hoping someone invented something that i couldn't think of![]()
so you're saying you have changed a spare tire on a maverick and the whole process from removing the jack kit inside the truck under the seat to sticking the bar inside the tailgate and unwinding it. Those steps alone would take you more than 5 minutes.it usually takes me about 3-5 minutes to change a tire depending on how easy it is to remove the spare. why would it take 10 minutes to be removed? from being exposed to the elements and rusting threaded mounts? looks to me like any standard truck spare mount
Yup, this is the same design as the old (out of production) Sears unit, that I have..To offer another suggestion, Home Depot has a compact jack for $40:
Dimensions: 17.5 in. x 7.75 in. x 5.3 in.

I've changed over to my spare three times. No way is it 3-5 minutes, unless you're part of an F1 pit crew and have an impact driver.so you're saying you have changed a spare tire on a maverick and the whole process from removing the jack kit inside the truck under the seat to sticking the bar inside the tailgate and unwinding it. i have not changed a tire on a maverick, im talking about my car, im aware it will take a bit longer with the maverick but 10 minutes to get the spare tire off alone seems extreme. it looks pretty easyso you're saying you have changed a spare tire on a maverick and the whole process from removing the jack kit inside the truck under the seat to sticking the bar inside the tailgate and unwinding it.
