True the distributor has been modified to use more Initial Timing and about 14 degrees of advance so the vacuum advance isn't needed!!

On a similar note, had a distributor, used in racing, that had a centrifugal advance where no vacuum is needed. It also had dual points, where 2nd one would fire say 2 degrees later after the primary fires. 2 sparks effect.

who would ever time a motor using the fly wheel? Maybe during a rebuild, but Fly wheels are usually keyed to go on only one way.

I like my 2022 ecoboost plenty. But I confess I'm jealous when I see photos of the 2025 ecoboost engine bay. All the wires neatly arranged, as compared to the wild jungle when I open my hood.

I also love the efficiency and reliability of modern engines. But a little part of me still misses adjustiing the timing of my 1960s VW Bus with a screwdriver and a flashlight bulb soldered to a wire clip. Or repairing my Le Car muffler with a soup can and a soldering torch.

I have a 25 Lariat, it is my second Mav and i just love it.. I was a ford mechanic way back when and for some reason decided I should go out and look under the hood of my Mav, after staring at it for a few minutes, I could not even figure out where the spark plugs were.. About the only thing i recognized was the windshield washer fill tube.. So I laughed at my self and shut the hood..

Yes things have definitely changed between pricing and what's under the hood!

Very Interesting. I work as any auto tech for the City of NY 30 years. When I first started one of the agencies the Parks department to be exact had farm type equipment especially tractors.
