I could not even figure out where the spark plugs were..
my father put himself though college in the early 60s as a mechanic.

He always die practically everything o his own cars (and his kids') until he got an '86 Aerostar, and couldn't figure out which part was which!

Follow-up question - do you think we should still change the oil at 3mo/3k miles?
No, you reckless, new-fangled, techno-geek!

Change oil every 1,000 miles, when you lube the chassis!

IUnfortunately no dipstick for the transmission.😕
I realized that I'd never checked the transmission fluid on my '97 Eldorado Touring Coupe. As I check it at the same time as everything else, I found this odd, and went out to check--nd couldn't find it!

It turned out that the GM 4T80e is sealed at the factory, and cannot be checked!

why do you ask ??
Because if you're not real, there's no point in discussing?
🤔

But hybrids with gears?
It baffles me that the electric motor I put before, rather than after, the transmission in hybrids such s the maverick and powerboost.

Was mechanic in 60s. Did lots generators. Especially Fords. They put on bottom of engine.
I lost a couple of days to an overheating engine, as I tried to get a straight answer on the temperature for the thermostat, and replacing it.

It turned out, when the dust settled, that the problem came from the fact that there was a thermostat in the thermostat housing!

While they used a chevy truck engine in that Cadillac in the later days of the Great Castration, cadillac had put a thermostatic mechanism at the bottom of the engine--yet retained the standard gm housing at the top of the block.

I removed the thermostat that someone had pu into the housing, and it stayed rock-steady at the designed temperature!

(it helped that Cadillac was on a kick where it could display a lot of data on the radio and such if you knew how)

Is it a heavily modified Small Block Ford (SBF), likely a 302 or a 351 Windsor?!
High performance or racing?! #guessing

I can tell there's a high-performance carburetor topped with a KRC Power Steering/Induction style air cleaner
460 .030 over so 466 BBF!!Last time I raced it in like 2012 it ran a 11.27@122 mph in the 1/4 mile but with a different carburetor than in the picture above!! it runs stronger with the current carburetor than it did when it ran the 11.27@122 mph. Here's another engine picture with the old carburetor and Air Cleaner. It's just been street driven since 2012 until now.

New plugs going into my buddies 69 Impala.
We sat on the fenders with our feet on the inner fender.
The air breather was a perfect table to set your beer on.
Valve cover gasket fails, leaks. We’d set them on the garage floor and stand on the things to reshape them flat while we changed points, rotor and cap.
Worked like a charm.

Anybody remember draining your oil overnight or gravity bleeding brakes overnight ?

How about putting the battery in the trunk
Of an Camaro and buying 4 gage wire long enough to reach it ?
Why you ask ?
It had the same effect on handling as moving the engine and tranny back six inches.

Or cutting a new front spring bolt hole just above the factory hole to drop the rear end
to level. That helped with traction in fast corners.

It was always in the details.

Anyone remember toilet paper oil filters ?
Good for one race.
If that Impala had a SBC in it the 4 bolts per Valve Cover didn't help for preventing Oil Leaks!!

I also worked for Ford in 81/82 yes am old, I moved on to Imported vehicles and stayed with them for over 35 years, I had a 22 FX4 LUX and now have a 25 Lariat hybrid, had too many new vehicles to list I always due my first oil change at about 2000 miles, see no reason to change now. I guess you can wait for 4000 miles seeing how the motor only runs about 50% of the time. Oil change posts in this club are fighting words.
Due a search if you have a few hours to read.

You have no vacuum advance hose connected to your distributor. 😉 See, I remember this old stuff too! 🤣

I remember plugging that with a golf tee. I cannot recall why.

I am still wondering if these 4 cylinder motors have a one or two barrel carburetors, did you find the carburetor?
They have one 4 barrel carburetor, since they have 4 cylinders.
This will reduce maintenance requirements for synchronizing the 4 of them.

The flux capacitor is slated as a '27 Tremor model only option.
All of the above "factual" information was derived by a deranged chatbot, so confirmation may be required...

Useless trivia :
We made a pact to stay wild to the point we’d all die before 50.
Only three of us got past 50
I’m the last man standing, I guess I cheated death better than the gang did.
Wow. Must have lived or hung out near a nuclear waste site! '77 grad here and about 2/3 of us are still kicking!

True the distributor has been modified to use more Initial Timing and about 14 degrees of advance so the vacuum advance isn't needed!!
