Hi, I am in the market for a Maverick. I am mostly interested in the hybrid. I noted that the turbo and the hybrid have different tow capacity. The hybrid says 2000 and the turbo says 4000. But what if all I want to do is carry a motorcycle on the hitch carrier? Why would that capacity be different? Do these models have the same body, and suspension and brakes? Can I carry 400 on the hitch on either model?

Sounds correct to me, same tongue weight, same hitch.

The hybrid says 2000 and the turbo says 4000.
10% of Max Tow is what I see listed:
2023 FORD RV & TRAILER TOWING GUIDE

Compare Maverick Hybrid to Transit and Bronco Sport limits (Page 44).

So... there is legality and capability .... you'd probably be fine with 400lbs on the hybrid, but 200lbs is "safe".

Specific to your question, "Do these models have the same body, and suspension and brakes?"
All hybrids are Front Wheel Drive (1st image), and most EcoBoost models are All Wheel Drive (2nd image) with a different rear suspension.

I have a 2.0 with the 4K tow package, and was surprised at the amount of "sag" with 250# on the ball (tongue weight). You may need to add some suspension assist to carry 400#, considering the additional setback.

For the most part you would be fine, the primary component driving the rating difference is the ECVT transmission in the hybrid. I agree with the above comments about the rear suspension and need for extra support if maxing out hitch tongue weight. Frame wise you should be fine.
